I agree that getting those players back will be great for the squad but the assumption that everyone stays fit. As we've seen all throughout the season, we get a player back from injury and we're happy but then we get another 1-2 fresh injuries. and this cycle has been repeated so often to the point where I just can't get excited anymore lol.

What we really need is luck. We need these players to come back, stay fit, and then to not suffer new injuries. If we can do that, then I see us finishing quite strongly including a good run in the CL. Without that, we will continue to have to patch up the team and scrap to 4th place.

Oh and 100% - just use Kabak and Davies now as the CB options, and occasionally rotate Fabinho back there accordingly.

Maybe it’s “karma” mate. You used to regularly wish injuries on Liverpool players that didn’t meet your perceived high standards.

FSG have done such a good job and deserve credit but I Think they royally f*cked up in January. Refusal to sanction a deal come 1st January was negligent. And having to penny pinch to bring in two cheap deals is great business but sometimes we really need a bit of an injection to bring in quality. Caleta Carr was available for around £22m and had to pursued it at the beginning of the month, Marseille would have had time to find a replacement.

Not saying that buying a defender at the beginning of the month would have saved us but we're effectively out of the title race because of this month.

thinking on this: I reflected that fsg actually ****ed this up in summer 2019 when only Elliott arrived. We plugged away nicely but when we came back off hiatus we have not been the same and have now fallen apart. The summer 2020 added three good players but looking at mane and firmino now as well as the dead wood it seems to.me we've stagnated on the pitch and on the bench.

I agree a cb should have turned up Jan 1.

We were all done for in December but not completely and totally trashed as we are now.

At this point we are looking at a stark situation of very possibly no cl.

We are fighting for 2nd but that seems beyond us currently so we have to look down the table not up it.

Chelsea are building a head of steam and spurs are risking kane again to chase again.

If we don't wake up and win min 10 for 15 we can kiss cl goodbye.

I dont even care about 2nd anymore. Qualifying for CL next season is the priority, and we risk undoing all the good work that we have achieved if we don't qualify.

And you're right - the owners have skimped on spending and that's why Klopp is absolute miracle worker with everything that he has achieved. I get that the owners want to be self sustainable and only spend what the club generates. On paper, it makes a lot of sense. But it puts enormous pressure on people like Edwards and Klopp to get everything 100% right, every time.

I'd agree with a lot of that but who knew Ox would become a sick note just when he seemed to be developing nicely, that Naby would be the same, Or that Origi would go backwards?
Matip being unable to keep fit should have been looked at though.
