You have to have extremely thick skin to mod a popular forum. I run a music forum and have taken a lot of shut over the years and even had people attack me in person over it. The thing to remember is it's only the Internet it's not life and death. You get idiots everywhere and Internet forums are no different. It was easy for the 606 mods as they were faceless, it's a lot harder when people know who the mods are.
Syd,i may not be a regular poster on 606 and not 606,but this is a forum for Sunlan fans to exchange views and topics Is there a rule for one and not the other?
No one is discriminated against here. On BBC606 the Sunderland fans were clearly discriminated against.
Lostnvegas, (It was easy for the 606 mods as they were faceless) Your statement and thats what they should be IMO
Yes we Gyan. I like you, in a mate kind of way. Non of that anal stuff you understand. Anyway. The day it was announced 606 was closing I ventured on to this site. Not one comment or post had been submitted to the Sunderland forum. So to answer your question. No.
You mean like the previous 3 times I did over the years and stayed away long enough to have forgotten the login details? Quite probably yes, I was there to see the views of my fellow Mackem's during these very good times for our club. My inbox was then, and recently, full of faceless moderators deleting my posts or threads I had posted in, no explanation just get on with it. That's not good moderation that is bad moderation. I shall repeat myself here, posts by Newcastle fans taking the piss out of Sunderland or their supporters were allowed to remain. Whilst any post by a Sunderland fan along the same lines was instantly removed. I personally never complained but plenty of others, probably a few on here did, and the complained of threads were left. So quiet clearly they were biased.
Your a good lad, lets not argue. Can i say one thing dont give the MOD up.We are Sunderland Supporters at the end of the day
MackemsRule Do you support Sunderland? I assume the answer is yes. If so, your biased. That's why I argued mods should only work on a neutral thread. How often do people complain the media is biased, or the ref's biased, the linesman is blind? It's a bit hypocritical if all our mods are biased against other peoples views. IMO.
MR I'd like to thank you for the time you gave freely to being a mod, imo you carried out a somewhat thankless task very well. I know I pm'd you re BC, I would hope that my message didn't contribute to your decision - if it did - please accept my sincere apologies. Your decision is one that I will not question, nor ask you to reconsider, that is your perogative and I truly respect it. I for one will look out for some "quality garbage" from you as you will have spare time on your hands?? As to who could fill your boots, perhaps Syd and BB have noticed someone who they think they could work with?
As I have said Roker nowt to do with BC or any complaints I have received in PM. It seems I have been getting in a couple of posters faces! And shouldn't be seen or heard. Someone had suggested you earlier as a mod would you be interested?
MR - Pleased to know I didn't add to the factors which led you to step down, shouldn't worry (I know you don't) about some who may have an issue with you, I've got a few myself, and watter off a ducks!! As regards becoming a mod, 2 factors at play, one being work and the other being spending what free time i have with my lad, whose mother is the "main carer" (F****** legalese bullshit for "screw the ex-husband over properly" - but I'm not bitter) so although it is very good to be thought of as one who could do a passable job, just not practicable I'm afraid. Like you I enjoy the banter and craic and post when I can - hence the somewhat erratic times I do post! The one idea I do have burbling away is that it might be a good idea to involve someone who lives "away" - like DMS or another? That way we get a wide perspective and the benefit of experience? Just an idea like??
