I'd disagree there ... we don't discuss the decisions that VAR gets correct... ... if you narrow and clarify the areas open to interpretation then the problem decreases. I don't think the technology will ever be rescinded... so you have e to make it work to the best of its capabilities... all the whinging in the world is not gonna change it.
We'll either both do a month or a week bro. Now you mention it, I'm pretty sure it was a week actually ....
Again though this is the problem, because at the end of the day it's just another human ref making a subjective decision. The whole idea of VAR was supposed to 'narrow and clarify the areas open to interpretation', but you can't escape the human equation.
You can give the refs as much training as you like, but you'll never eradicate human subjectivity mate.
Basically the idea is that to make the technology work we have to rewrite the entire rulebook. Almost makes you wonder how we managed for over a century if the game was so broken.
Square peg / round hole That isn't even my biggest issue with VAR anyway. It's the way it kills the spirit of the game, having to check everytime a goal is scored to possibly bring it back for some minor infringement in the build up. That Mane goal that was chalked off against Spurs was pure VAR bullshit. And there have been loads of examples like that. At the end of the day, I think you just have to accept that referring is always going to have some subjective bias, regardless of what technology is supposed to be assisting. So for me, I'd rather just leave it to the on field ref.
Which is why VAR was brought in ... to reduce it as much as can be acheived ... that remains the goal ...
The rulebook has continuously been re-written during my lifetime ... you don't need to rewrite the whole rulebook, that's just you throwing a tantrum The handball rule debacle is not a consequence of VAR, they have tinkered with it for as long as I can remember ... indeed I'm not sure any rule has been changed just to accomodate VAR ...
But it will always be subjective, that's the point. Sometimes it corrects errors. And sometimes it makes an even bigger pig's ear of it. For what it's supposed to do, it doesn't offer enough compared to the absolute **** housery that it also brings with it.
