I've just read a thread on the Gooners board and it has incensed me so much that I just had to post a thread here (given that I cannot reply directly to that thread).

A couple of the Gooner idiots are spouted the same nonsense, that Walnut is the best RW for England, and that he is better than Lennon. They are, of course, conveniently forgetting that the only reason Lennon is not in the side ahead of Walnut is because he's been out injured.

As evidence of his great prowess and unshakeable England credentials they are pointing out the cross that led to the first goal last night. What they forget to mention is that for the rest of the game he was completely and utterly anonymous, save for a couple of dreadful crosses!

How can they be so blind? After last night's performance Walnut should never play for England again!

There really are none so blind as those who wear rose-tinted specs!
 
He should play as a striker, not a winger really. He'd be far more effective playing through the middle than he ever is out wide if he was given some game time there.

Agreed, he'd have a better chance of impressing in that position, but I think there are probably better options than him as striker.
 
Walcock and Lennon are both frustrating to watch.

Both are lightning quick but inconsistent and imho England have better options than either of them.
 
It'd be interesting to see how Walcott would develop as a striker, if he was given a consistent run in that role.
He's out of contract at the end of next season, so I wonder if the idea of playing for another club that would give him that chance has occurred to him?
 
Adam johnson should be given a chance for England. Lennon has been put of form for quite a while now!
 
Walnut is a one trick pony and take away his pace he would be very ordinary indeed, Lennon is just as quick with better dribbling skills but neither can cross a ball for love nor money.

The biggest surprise is how has an average player like Downing managed to accumulate 30 England caps.... the cupboards must be bare.

Lennon has not been in the team since the world cup. Must be some injury, oh wait.

It isn't that. I have taken a vow never to give you or any of the other wumsters that follow your relegation-challenged team the benefit of the doubt on any issue, particularly as all you seem to do is take liberties with the generosity of our mods and do nothing other than pass pathetic comments - much like you do on your own board, as it happens.

If I had my way, I would show you the same zero-tolerance that you show to rival posters on your board.

Back on topic. Lennon has not been in the England team because he has not been playing well post the world cup. No need to lie about injuries when he the truth is he has not been picked based on his performances. Clearly your toys are well and truly out of the pram and you can't get over the fact you can no longer post on the Arsenal board. So i won't bother you anymore.
 
Lennon has clearly struggled with injuries since before the World Cup, SJW19.
What's Walcott's excuse for playing crap?

Playing crap? Last time i checked he banged in 13 goals last season from the wide role. 3 goals this season. Lovely cross yesterday. Lennon last season played 33 games for Spurs but not did not get look in for England.
 
Both are best used as impact players. To be not blinkered maybe Walcott has a slight edge. Spurs look better with
more purpose without Lennon , but he would be a threat from the bench.
Both are not in the same league as our Gareth.

Lennon's been out for virtually the whole season so far, playing 45 minutes in a reserve game the other day.
He wouldn't get a look in for England anyway, as Capello likes to pick the same **** players all the time and scapegoat people.

Stats are meaningless, by the way.
Walcott may have had to odd decent game, but he's largely ineffective.
How many times have you seen him do absolutely nothing worthwhile in a game, as it appears to drift by him?

They do when a player that starts out wide has scored 13 goals. He may not be in the game all the time but you can't doubt the fact he has an end product now. I never rated Walcott much but even i can't say anything against what Walcott is doing in terms of goals.

He's doesn't do enough in other aspects of his game, though.
He got great service last season, too.

He does. He keeps full backs pinned back with his pace. A perfect example of that was against Chelsea last season when they would normally unleash Cole and he was causing all sorts of problems in the games before that. But Walcott kept him in his own half. Full backs have to always be on their toes against someone with that pace. He makes runs inside the box that drags the CB's out of their position which he did well last season. Walcott is great off the ball in terms of his runs. Really improved on that area. And perfect on the counter when he drifts into the middle and looks for passes that give him space to run into. Shakater and Newcastle away last season was an example of that. This season he has got 3 goals and 2 massive ones in the games against Udinese. He could easily match the 13 goals from last season for me if he stays injury free.
 
Just being fast isn't actually doing something.
He's stopping full-backs from committing themselves due to an attribute, not because of his play.
