With the likes of Ricardo, Ndidi and Soyuncu back, if we avoid further set backs, we have great depth. The obvious areas are stand ins for Vardy and Tielemans if they get injured / struggle to play every game in 3 competitions. I haven’t seen much of Dewsbury-Hall but what I have seen suggested he would play the Tielemans role but it seems we want him to get the full season at Luton. It’s unfortunate Praet went for that ball when the game was over at Stoke as he would drop into that role. I wonder if there is a loan available somewhere but players of the quality to step in for Youri generally wouldn’t be unless there is a condition to sign them later. There has been links with Edouard again the last week so if we were to go for him, sure this month would be the time...
I can’t understand the rumours of Tarkowski still being a target. It seems with the current options, plus Justin being able to play as a centre back too we don’t have any need to go after him, unless someone will be leaving in the summer. We’re best putting that money towards a right winger or Vardys possible successor. Then again, it might all be paper talk.
Much more important positions than CB. Mainly a striker and winger like Barnes on the other side (could still be Under). I haven’t seen KDH myself much but seems to be rated as a Tielemans stand in for next season plus having Praet back so should be set there.
I wouldn't complain about more experience at the back - Morgan and Fuchs very likely won't be here next season and Evans is 33 and won't be able to play every game. Remember that we have all the Europa league games to play this season as well - could be playing over 3 games a week if there are any Covid delays.
Vardy is out for a while - hope we get someone even on a short loan as otherwise we could see Gray up front again...
Sure Brendan said at the weekend he'd had the op and was expected back in training in 10 days. So could/ should be back next week
Looking like Demarai Gray will sign for Bayer Levekeusen within the nextc48 hours according to latest reports ...
Chalobah from Watford or Maitland- Niles from the Goons according to some press reports .. both somewhat underwhelming ... much rather hear Eduoard is coming from Celtic ... hey ho....
I suppose Maitland Niles can play literally anywhere pretty much so for a squad player makes sense - I don’t understand why he wouldn’t prefer to go elsewhere and actually play though
Apparently there is a triangle - Hamza to Newcastle, Longstaff to Watford and Chalobah to us. Maitland-Miles deal is 100% off as Arsenal see us as a rival and won’t let him come here. That’s all according to Sky Sports
Obviously too late for January's transfer window, but what type of player do you think would make the biggest difference to the side? First off, we need a striker as a long term replacement for Vardy. I think we all agree on that one. But could we also use a different type of midfielder? We have a very lightweight central midfield in Tielemanns, Praet and Maddison who are all technically good, but they are basically the same type of player. Could we use a more imposing midfielder who drives the team forwards, someone along the lines of a Stevie G or Pogba (without the attitude!). We struggle against more defensive sides and don't help ourselves by passing it side to side at the back while letting the opposition re-group. Could a more direct type of midfielder be useful in getting us up the field more quickly, or would that type of player upset the balance of the current team?
