If Fulham start getting the results to match their decent performances then they won't be long in overtaking you, after a run of hard games some winnable games coming up.

I looked at Fulham's fixtures and the next 8 are favourable if they put a run together we're in trouble, Burnley winning the other night didn't help!

Fulham‘s recent run of fixtures has been horrendous, Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Leicester and Man City all in like the last 7-8 games, not surprised they've fell behind a bit.

Even though Newcastle are 7 points ahead of Fulham, in terms of how fans are feeling and general atmosphere around the clubs, Fulham are in a much better place just now. No guarantee that the results will come but if they can keep up recent performances, like you say some decent fixtures coming up so hopefully the results will follow.
