This is canny funny mind

Steve Bruce was asked today if any boss could be successful under Ashley… “What do you gauge as success? I gauge success last year as matching Rafa’s tally of points. He was a world-class manager. Where did he finish (10th & 13th)? Is that success? We matched the mighty Rafa.”

How does he not realise how much he's embarrassing himself?

This is my number 1 problem with Bruce beyond the results. The man has zero self belief nor self worth. He truly doesn't think on any level whatsoever that he can match Rafa, I would go into that job and think "OK, I haven't won the pots Rafa has, but I am a friendly personality, can maybe motivate them and can have a go as best as I can." I would say as much in the interview, I want to be a success, I want to prove my critics wrong and I want to prove that even without the trophies I can emulate and surpass the previous manager.

But, instead, we have this boring jealous ****. "Ok, Im not as popular, nor as good, nor can I match his career. But we will stay up." For **** sake, have some self belief man.

It's absolutely pathetic. As a manager Bruce has had a long ****ing career, he should ****ing atleast believe in himself, it would improve his time here greatly. He should also learn basic training and tactical knowledge.

I actually think he firmly believes he's a very good manager. I think no matter what's happened in previous jobs he's protected his ego with bullshit excuses and walked away thinking if only this or if only that. I don't think he's ever had that moment you need to have when you're failing at something and you realise what you're doing isn't enough. The guy just takes pride in having another go and taking another beating. I actually respect that about a person, but it's not good enough.

Essentially Steve Bruce is the guy in the bar that gets into fights regularly and everytime he gets his arse handed to him because he keeps looking away. He actually enjoys demonstrating how much of a beating he can take and he takes pride in it.

Bruce's not joking he really is rolling his sleeves up <laugh>

When asked if he had held any dialogue with the powers that be about an ultimatum, Bruce told the Chronicle Live: "It is absolutely the biggest pile of ***** I have ever heard."

Bruce gets like this at every job when the pressure mounts, he was the exact same at Hull City. Just ranting on in his pressers.

He’s on the ropes is what I read into all of this. If they wanna bring another coach in then let them, why should we care? It’s means **** all in terms of whether the takeover is on or off (it’s on by the way I hasten to add), we can’t get at worse surely in terms of the football. I’ll still hate the bloke with every ****ing fibre of my being but if it gets us the points we need to stay in this league for then **** it, bring it on. Bruce can’t take any of the plaudits, he’s shown himself to be exactly what we all knew he was. The sooner he’s gone the better.

Ask Villa fans. They sacked him, appointed Dean Smith and have been on the up ever since.

Bruce is a destroyer of clubs. You could argue that Bruce set in motion the events that led to Sunderland dropping down the divisions.
