I think you also have to take into account the **** pitches they played on back then. Also the fact that defenders were allowed to kick chunks out of them. The balls today are a lot lighter and the pitches are like carpets. I would say that the players today are a lot fitter.

The game's a lot quicker, too. It's very hard to compare eras because so many factors are different.

Exactly this. It's very difficult to compare. That's why I find it ridiculous when I hear people going on about Pele scoring goals in his front garden. Completely disrespectful imo.

He chucks in all manner of ****, though! <laugh> He's got a world class record without them, so why do it?
There's no doubt that he was a great player, but he's such a dick about it.

    We’ve got a leaky defence.

I'm not convinced he'll be bothered either way. I mean if it was a burning passion he could go to the best team in the fourth tier and score 70+ goals next year but the guy has his head screwed on and will know that it means more to win things with clubs like Juventus rather than beat a disputed goal tally against lowly opposition.

Burnley are a tough outfit to go to when your strikers aren’t firing. They’ll rough the rodents up though so I expect VAR to do the damage and get Livarpool back up and running.
