Yesterday Tory Peer Dido Harding said it is "appropriate" to pay 900 consultants £1,000 a day for Test and Trace due to “extreme emergency circumstances”. Tory MPs also went ahead with the £1,000 Universal Credit cut for 6m families facing “extreme emergency circumstances”.
Here’s something people might not know, regarding “benefits”. A worker who is too unwell to work receives approximately £95 SSP per week, for up to 6 months, depending of course that they qualify for sick pay. A person on SSP, because they are earning less than £128 per week can, if their circumstances meet the requirements, claim carers allowance, which is approximately £65 per week. After the 6 months has elapsed, if that person is still not fit for work, he/she can apply for ESA, which is approximately £74 per week, a drop of £21 per week despite still being too unwell to work. BUT, on top of that drop, because that person has moved from SSP to ESA they are no longer allowed to claim the carers allowance. So, that person’s circumstances haven’t changed, but because of having to change the way of claiming sick pay, that person loses £86 per week. Then they are forced into an unfair universal credit system which they may or may not qualify for. It’s called levelling up, I believe.
We urgently need that money to fund Tory donor shell companies and the next door neighbours rebrand from an ice cream man to a PPE supplier.
Compass, the company that owns Chartwells, the food parcel providers, are battling against having to pay a £113 million tax bill. By allowing them to shift part of their tax bill off shores, the UK was accused of giving them state aid, contrary to the EU rules. The report says that the UK government is also fighting the ruling. Seriously, the government is turning away the chance to rake in £113 million, which could grow as other businesses fall into the same position of being deemed to have received state aid, and have to pay the money they saved to the treasury. They claim to be the patriotic party, but as always their actions prove otherwise. https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/city...1868V7_wGGfzpfB2gAM4Q-L_Xba6cNo8wbcfXXwU1-h28
Oh you are right it has been apparent from the off that the current Conservatives and hardline Brexiteers are anti-British and anti-U.K. Which makes it all the more nauseating when they drape themselves in the union flag Just wish people would judge them on their actions, rather than their rhetoric.
His final speech was pretty bizarre. Took credit for Obama's administration and pre-emptively took credit for Biden's administration. His final words before departing? "Have a good life. I will see you soon." Please, don't bother.
Eugene Goodman has now been promoted to Acting Deputy Capitol Sergeant at Arms, as a reward for his courage 2 weeks ago. I’m watching on CNN and it was great to see the 43rd President George W Bush and Laura Bush arrive, between Bill & Hillary Clinton and Barack and Michelle Obama. One of the commentators reminded us of Bush’s words after hearing Trump’s inauguration address 4 years ago: “Well that was some weird ****..”
