Think Capello's interview regarding England's confidence is quite ridiculous. Although we've seen many games like the atrocious display against Wales before (under the Mc for example), and England in the grand scheme of things are not world beaters, surely part of the problem is Capello's own approach and negativity. Against Wales, instead of going for the throat he chose to negatively counter their one attacking threat (Bale). This caused a lack of dynamism going forward, inviting the opposition onto our back-four. So despite his words, I fear that Capello won't be able to motivate the players into the performance he supposedly wants. This will be even the more so if he fails to play Rooney in the 'hole', undoubtedly his best position and one from where he can control the game, creating chances for others and getting into scoring positions himself. Without the skill and incisive passing of Wilshere, playing Rooney upfront in a three will lead to a lack of creativity and apathy in the midfield. I fear Capello's words are just that.
Must agree shame the FA wasted so much money on him rather than giving an opportunity at least to a UK manager!
Like who though...apart from Redknapp there aren't many top quality choices. I agre Capello hasn't done well but he was an good club manager who had no experience of internationa level.
