I probably will do them one day. I bought that jeep to have a practice. Although my patients can wear thin at times I've got a mini paint gun in the shed i never used but it's one that runs off a tyre and read they are crap ???
I doesnt help when they very small, like the Willys Jeep you got. I'm not sure about the paint gun thing, I just recently got an airbrush and compressor, but have only used it once up till now.
Since going on permanent nights I can't even find the time to practice guitar anymore. Or if I have the time just feel knackered and uninterested. There's some good videos on YouTube, some like that one I posted really put some detail and hours in. Some of the diarama ones are a work of art. And I've enjoyed seeing yours, great job
Yeah, I used to. Enjoyed it but, like you say, it was impossible to get them as good.as the ones in the magazines. I know a lad that still does it and some of his are amazing. I enjoyed playing the game but it took so long that eventually everyone got bored with it.
Into April now, and my next one was a Honda CB750F. Its an old, cheap kit (£11.99), but I really enjoyed this one. The silver "fins" on the engine block were done by painting the whole part black, then painting silver onto the end of an eraser and pressing it on. Some good detail on this for an old kit. And the finished bike....
As a kid I made a load of Airfix ones, but I also liked the Matchbox ones, mainly military vehicles, that came as a little diorama. Someone keener than me has a good collection shown here please log in to view this image
I think I was a bit young and impatient for a slow game with that many rules, ironically I'd probably prefer it now I'm older and no longer have any interest in Warhammer figures.
Yeah, I quite like a strategy game and would probably enjoy it now. The time it takes and, of course, the image thing, probably rules it out for people of our age!
The actual game, is it played as a physical game, with other players there, or is it an online thing? I've seen the figures (very impressive) but no idea of the game itself.
Its a bit like a board game. The models represent different characters/types of character and each one has rules associated with it. Then you use dice to determine the outcome of the various scenarios that come up.
Yeah as Norton says it's like a (horribly complicated it seemed to me as a kid) board game, although it's branched out into all sorts of computer games as well, probably why the brand is still going strong. I'm not into it myself but it's got a big following.
Mid April now, and I had done 6 models since Christmas, so thought I would do something a bit bigger, a bit more challenging. Had a good look online to see if there was anything I fancied doing....so much to choose from! As I was looking, a **** song came on the radio....that was it, decision made. Couple of days later this arrived....
R.M.S. Titanic, 1/400 scale, 67cm long, 262 parts. I might post this one over a few posts, just to show how it progressed. Plan was to build the hull, and spray the whole thing with grey primer, then spray bottom third oxide red, top third white, and middle third black. Halfords grey, red and white primer, and Halfords matt black spray worked well. Then two lines of masking with a small gap between, gap painted black to seal the tape, then a line of yellow over the top. Quite pleased with this....just another 250 or so parts to go.
Brilliant, you have the same toaster as me. seriously though mate that’s looking great with just the bit you’ve done already. You have a talent there
Started the thread off with the Victory, ironic that after last night's showing we are now on the Titanic!
