I just can’t get the hang of barre chords no matter how much I practice them. Can play quite a few basic songs with open chords but just feel not progressing at all.

It's all practice mate bit don't over practice say 15mims a day doing barre chords and try moving your hand/wrist position to get it to ring out. It just takes time mate and all I ever really played when i was gigging was barre chords and power chords. I'm not a lead player anyway and never will be.

two methods first one place the index finger covering all strings use the thumb to help with the pressure and strum making sure all strings are fully pressed, when confident add Aminor finger position to the other fingers and practice

method 2 go to a bar, go to google play, download guitar chords, bang away not forgetting the head banning movement hope this helps mate:emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0100-smile

Great info mate and it's definitely something that needs practice to get spot on!

Well you'd be disappointed :D
I got a bargain on some of those.
The top red acoustic/electric crafter was about £60 .
The Yamaha acoustic £70.
The banjo the mrs bought me.
The old 60's starway was a Christmas present as a kid 2nd hand.
The red Gretsch I did buy new but its not the massively expensive ones,

Funny but I only really picked a guitar up with a passion about 2 years ago and just started lessons learning to read music and finger picking then this covid shìt kicked off :(
All the furlough i had last year and i wasted it not practicing and no lessons.
Now being on permanent nights since last year I don't get round to it much either :(

Here's another bargain.
I was after a single guitar stand.
Got a stand, fender amp, tuner, strap, possibly something else and this Aria guitar for £35 :D

The pic doesn't do it justice.
