Who'd you recommend, I'm late fifties with no intention of playing live, would just love to be able to play?
YouTube is a great place to start with loads of beginners lessons. All about practice and putting in the time say 30 mins a day because you will get bored quite quickly with more than that

<laugh> Aye true!!

Been playing since I was 18 but I'm a singer who plays guitar rather than a "guitarist" (Those who play will know exactly what I mean) - More a rhythm guitarist who can play a bit of lead - said the other day this new year just gone is the first in 27 years where I haven't gigged!

In a duo called Revolver now with a lad called Alan Williamson on lead guitar. Love gigging! Miss it so much!!!
I'm the same sang more than played and only really picked it up to look cooler when I was younger.

My teacher plays in a local band and as a musician for other bands, including one famous pro. I can PM you his contact details but I'll have to check with him first. He is doing lessons remotely via zoom during covid. He plays and teaches guitar, keyboards and music theory and comes to you - he is based in South Shields. If you can give a town/village where you're based I'll contact him and find out if he's taking on pupils

me dads best friend knew the Everly brothers ! they would visit him in South hylton where he lived when they played here and he had all their records and signed photos of them together next to his fire engine, which is how they met, went to their concerts etc would love to have seen them in his house doing 'wake up little suzy' we used to go to see him sometimes to see his collection. i play the organ canny but not as good as Rick wakeman lol. Maybe we could form a group called the 'not606's !

Marty is canny on YouTube but I think it all depends on what sort of style you are wanting to play. Face to face is also good to pick up the basics then do YouTube to develop your skills.
Agree but covid is a bit limiting at present

Definitely and the likes of John Robson from Boro does online video face to face lessons via Skype. Get a few face to face then it will be a little bit easier to use YouTube. Some of them YouTube lessons baffle me with all the theory lol

I play ! I have two strats I put together myself (if you look at my avatar you’ll see why I play strats ) also have an epiphone 335 and two Telecasters, which I love. Been playing since I was 14 ,on a westone concord 1 ( which I still have) . One of the Best things I have done is learning to play , a friend and a passion for life.
I bet yours are in better nick <laugh>

Aye - play a few instruments currently playing with a band called SLUG which is loads of fun. My dad also plays (apple doesn't fall far and all that) he goes under the name mackem folk singer at times. He's a good lad

Youtube - Marty Schwartz, he has a whole library of stuff to suit all tastes, from super easy beginner stuff through to experienced. Thousands of youtube tutors out there, once you find a song you enjoy practising, narrow your search to that specific song, and who performs it closest to what you are looking for or your ability.

This is the guy...
