That wasn't what their bench cost. It was what two players on it cost.
They also had Fernandinho, Mahrez and Aguero, plus a few cheapo signings.
Probably about £250m in all.

You've always been ****, going by those standards. And, you know, just generally.
It's not really relevant. Surely that would be more of a reason to block any takeovers, if we had that miraculous power, somehow?
Summer of 2008, we'd just won a trophy and qualified for Europe, though. Better than any Newcastle season in your lifetime, basically.
