For some of us it's coming up to a decade of being on here. Not sure whether this is incredibly sad or a cause to celebrate an anniversary ? So I'm going with probably something in between.

Anyway, this place has seen some changes in this time. Relationships have been formed, broken and mended again. Posters have come and gone, straightners have been offered, some folk have met up and formed friendships with other posters (myself included) and we've lost some Soldiers along the way. Burly RIP <rose>

Most of us migrated over here when the old BBC 606 closed, with it's parental like moderation (you couldn't even swear on there) this place offered a breath of fresh air with it's mantra 'Comment, Create, Debate... freely'. In the early days Mick floated around the site and could often be found on the chat window, but it was left to Cyprus Syd to mod the site and a grumpy old **** he was, but fair.

Later the mod duties fell to brb, Minxy and Resurgam. Not sure if the latter are still around ? Don't really see them posting, not on the PL board anyway. The club boards have had a plethora of different mods, all recruited from ordinary posters, football fans first and mods second. Some good, some bad. Some who have taken their mod duties a little bit overzealously, some who prefer the laid back approach.

The site has seen some classic moments. Meltdowns, Flounces and some genuinely funny moments. Some of the things that stick out for me were Ensil the ****ing terrible pedant losing his **** and posting a picture of his severed bollock. The bloke on the Utd board (Red Rum ?) who used to pretend he was running a posh restaurant serving famous people. He'd literally tell people he had to leave because Posh n Becks had just walked in <laugh> Roofie leaving his missus, walking to the end of his drive and deciding whether to head East or West. Matth's kettle more recently and a whole host of melts and flounces.

At the end of the day, this place for me is still about what it was when I first came here. A place for some Bantz and a place for some real talk when required. I've never taken this place too seriously. And whilst the ****ery is the order of the day here, there are some genuine lads on here who have got each other's backs <ok>

I've been here maybe 9 years... I want my 9 years back!

Took a year or so for some of the 606 people to coax me over. Tried ja606 at first. God that site is crap.

Think I started on BBC's 606 page in 1998 or 1999 long before the big redesign of the 606 forums there when they started to get popular. I've wasted a lot of years on 606 related forums.

Now this is an interesting question...

Wonder who will still be posting here in another ten years should the site still be going?

Some might find this controversial but I think each of us have a shelf life here to some extent.

I'm sure piskie and Hiag will still be arguing about a bet.

You think Covid19 was bad. Wait for Ebola22.

There won't be many of us left in 10 years.

I'm not one of youse "came from the BBC when it closed down" peeps tbh.

I was bored one day, looked for a football forum, joined this one.

Not sure how long ago but a few years at least

Not sure you just stumble on this forum, by googling 'football forum' - You would probably need to include 606 in your search. I'd never heard of this place until someone directed me here.

No one asked

You missed a lot of fun having tormenting the moderators there. <laugh>

They had two lists of words... One like "****", "****" automatically got blocked.

Another list didn't get blocked but automatically got flagged for a moderator to review. This list had things in it like "Mum", "Sheep", "Hooker", "Wunter Under Meijer" (yes there's a reason for that... <laugh>)

The moderating there was so heavy handed I used to deliberately torment the moderators by randomly including words like "Mum", "Sheep" in my more mundane posts so some poor moderator would have to read my thread.

Also, they used to ban posts way too easily, so I had fun reporting the moderators own posts and got quite an amusing number of moderator posts removed.

I was younger and more of a wum in those days.

Easiest way to get round the BBC mods, was to find an old thread, and start a new discussion there, because unlike on here, after a certain time had lapsed the threads no longer bumped up the pages. Everyone would jump on it and swear to their hearts content, and as long has no one grassed by hitting the report button, you was fine.

His reaction was what made it.
Nobody actually thought it was him, but he totally freaked out and people ran with it because of that.
Didn't he quit or get banned due to it?

I think someone found his twitter account, not sure if it was Sucky. After that he vanished.

Oh nah that wasn't me, I missed all that, politics thing no?

Yeah we had a long running pub thread there that was used for that purpose... Although we had enough rivals who followed bread crumbs to it that it never stayed completely sanctified.

Pretty sure it was some HIAG/Piskie **** and he joined in, got caught in the crossfire, then had a meltdown because everyone said he liked the cock.

The Highburyal thing came about because he was having a row with brb about the modding. He brought up the incident where this site got a mention in the press over that GC rape thread. After that somebody found that twitter account which clearly wasn't him, and from there his account on here got butchered with it.
