I never had the pleasure of seeing him. I had my pockets emptied by all of the bands from 76 onwards. I regret it now, of course...along with a whole host of other things.
My brother was the real fan with his then girlfriend who worked for RCA , she got tickets for the " idiot tour " we saw him on 2 nights at the Rainbow with Bowie on keyboards which didn't seem a big deal at the time

It's a good listen...and the reunion is Dave's idea, they're doing it for the dosh and yes, Rat and Captain still seem to despise each other...but new recordings might be possible...?

I would have said that it's not really my era but years of flicking through Beano's racks means that the covers are very familiar to all but a couple. I've heard over half of them but own a paltry 3 .
My older brother owned a dozen or so...he's pretty eclectic in his tastes and bought Curtis Mayfield, Elton John, Deep Purple and Shaft. My dad bought the Nilson, McCartney, Stones and Who albums.
I'm going to try to listen to those that I don't know...God knows, I've got the time.
Between me and Mrs Conn we have 28 of the albums on vinyl or CD , not a clue who 3 down 5 across is though

RIP Gerry Marsden - one of those staples of 'light entertainment' when I was growing up, the first band to to go to number 1 with their first 3 singles - just a shame he chose to cover You'll never walk alone!

I was 6 at the start of 71, but I own about half of these albums
I've tried to find 3 down 5 across - got nothing so far.
Favourites are the three that I own - T Rex, The Doors and The Velvet Underground. No surprises there.
Between Bowie & Rod is Freedom Flight by Shuggie Otis!!! - No me neither
Bryter Layter is a great album , (Weller put me onto Nick Drake), Hunky Dory IMO is one of Bowies best albums, I also own Imagine, Ram, Sticky Fingers, Every Picture, Who's Next, Whats Going On, LA Woman, Zeppelin IV, T-Rex, Shaft, Tapestry, Tupelo Honey, Roots, and The Electric Light Orchestra - Ok not quite half!

Shuggie Otis is a new one for me. Apparently, he turned down The Stones in the mid-70's but played with Zappa.
In the Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy documentary, Hunky Dory took a bit of a slagging as a so-so effort pre-Ziggy. That seemed pretty harsh to me, although I knew a couple of blokes who were so ridiculously into it in the late 70's, when London was spawning a new band every month, that I got turned against it somewhat. It's a really good album, even if the next few he was involved in were better (IMO).
Any album that spawned Queen Bitch is good for me, you can hear that Hunky Dory paved the way for Ziggy and Aladdin sane , at the time my girlfriend was into Bowie but I was more into rock , I got 2 tickets for a Bowie show and gave them to her and her sister , what a mistake to make
