Ones I have were brewed in the Netherlands (under licence) ... not too gassy but that might be because they are coming out of the wine cooler and are very chilled ...

I was in Mexico back in the early 90's too and don't remember any decent beers tbh. That didn't stop me drinking them, Modelo was my choice at the time. Tbh though, it's a bit of a case of when in Rome, so Tequilla was the drink of choice.
