Another 5 games postponed for Tuesday, as of now there is a 4 game gap between Accrington 16 games played and Crew, Fleetwood and Mkd on 20 games played. Looking a right mess.
I have full confidence that the EFL have a solid plan for this, after all they have had months and months to come up with one...
We have a strong and large squad. Add in the youngsters and we should have the ability to rotate Also, when you are winning, playing every couple of days isn't an issue.....
If this Covid continues as it is at present I can't see this season being completed, which in our current position of euphoria would be a right kick in the stots. Sorry to be a bit doom and gloom but our squad situation won't do us any good when other clubs struggle with a lot less than we have. Hope I'm wrong, but watch this space.
'doom and gloom' maybe but might also be the only option, stopping the season that is...not all clubs will have to cancel at the same time so the backlog would just never be cleared. only other option would be suspend all games then finish the season when 'all clear'...of course this brings it's own problems with transfer windows, contracts etc...not an easy job to decide the outcome.
I reckon it will be brilliant even if we don’t go up as long as I can see good progress. I will be well happy, and 3 games a week, what’s not to like
Clubs may have to start taking the same approach as cricket and keep teams in "bio-secure bubbles" with regular testing - that might be the only way to complete the season
Seven of today's league one fixtures have now been postponed due to Covid with Doncaster being the latest. Strange our league seems to be suffering more than others.
Think a few may well go under this season but there will be a whole raft of clubs completely knacked if this disruption carries on until next season, which I think it will. Not us though, and I am so thankful for that. In amongst the optimism of a new owner and a plan being put in place, bottom line is I will have a club to support once this Covid ****e has calmed down, don't think every fan will be as fortunate sadly.
A big ask though, the players have to leave their family behind for the duration. It's one thing asking an international cricketer on a very decent chunk of money, who is used to travelling the world and fitting in the family around it. Asking someone who plays for Accrington Stanley, on a good but hardly life-changing wage, to do the same for 7 months+, well you could hardly blame them for not being keen. I see a Welsh international rugby player quit today for that very reason.
Scored as many goals for Boro in the 6 weeks since he signed for them as he managed in 7 years playing for us with that first half goal tonight
