Liverpool are set to sign Celta Vigo defender Stefan Bajcetic, who is 16, and will be added to their academy. Manchester United and RB Leipzig had also wanted the teenager. [HASHTAG]#awlfc[/HASHTAG] [Paul Joyce - Times]

What would people prefer:

a) buy a one CB and one DM (thus making Fabinho a full back CB long term

b) buying two CB’s and keep Fab in midfield?

The assumption is that it may easier to buy a DM rather than a CB

We look crapper when Fabinho isn't in the middle.

Pace. Our game is different because none of our remaining CB’s have it. Williams would be an outstanding prospect if he had it....but we all saw yesterday that he doesn’t. We need to buy one good CB with pace urgently. Very few about and of those, fewer are available. We can manage with one and then use Matip sparingly. Ultimately, we will need another come the summer.

c) buy one CB but move Fabinho back to CM still; we've plenty in CM and don't need to be buying there. Fabinho is available as backup for CB (when everyone is fit)

Yeah - I don't know how fast Grant is but he left Rhys for dead.

We have zero need of another DM. Just a CB will do. Buy one QUALITY player rather than buy multiple lower quality players.

Transfers should always be QUALITY over QUANTITY. If Rafa had done that we would have won the league at least a decade sooner.

To be fair to Rafa he was sometimes having to buy in the 'bargain basement' because transfer funds were instead being used to service our debt.
About £25m per season iirc. thanks to Hicks and Gillette <grr>

At first, he bought quality when funds were available. Later he took to the scatter gun approach; sign eight and hope two or three of them come good.

It's hard to know what was going on at that time. He certainly publicly begged HaG to give him more money for transfers several times. He also seemed to be joining forces with Del Boy and Rodney at times with some of his schemes.

No matter who on staff were to blame. We were so close at times and just needed a few quality players to make the difference but would often end up signing 6 to 8 players in the summer, none of whom filled the need we had. A few quality players instead of 6 to 8 mediocre ones could have changed our history dramatically.

That's one thing I like about the Klopp years. We seem to make few, but meaningful, transfers.

The assumption is that we need another 2 full time CBs because Matip and Gomez are both injury prone, and VVD is out.

We need two new CB’s regardless for the long term but the underlying question is - do we move Fabinho to CB full time?
