It shows he needs resting more than anyone else, generally he looks to be working the hardest. I thought Chair was mostly cr*p early season, but at some point he got a lot more focused on his game and did a lot better, maybe because he was rested. But he's been looking tired again of late, drifting out of games 2nd half, can't lift the ball over the 1st defender from corners, the o.g. Saturday came from a tired cross directed near post where we had nobody. I think Warburton was right to sub him Saturday anyway.
As of late, he, along with Dieng has been our best player. I firmly believe he is building up his stats hoping for a dream move to the premier league like Eze. I cant blame him really. If his form continues then it could be his last season with us also.
Yeah he’s got a stake in the club. They’re playing a load of youth players to try and build their values up which is commendable but probably not helping his job as manager.
Thoughts; The side in Middlesex who beat the Geordies alot of the good things that have happened to them was after MW was given a chance to build something. He got in the right number 2 who is still there now. When he left to go to forest and Glasgow Rangers, he didnt last possibly because he didnt have the right number 2 to install the principals. He took over at QPR - a club with very little money, a few players that wanted to leave and have done so (although not many have really done anything except Eze), he has bought in replacements that are potentially settling in. Each transfer window has seen the doors opening and closing as players come and go. I still think that we are missing a couple of pieces of the jigsaw - that being a midfielder, winger (that can operate on both sides) and possibly a defender. The question is, if we are paying less than what they can get elsewhere is it any wonder we are where we are? Also, and as much as it pains me to say this Vanilla brought in someone to work mainly with their defence, and that looks tighter than last year. When Curtis Fleming came in our defence tightened - maybe trying to get in Clint Hill (or someone that understands the position) should be a major prioity.
If he hasn't already got a defensive coach then Warbles ought to go now. If he has got one, then he needs to change him out for one that knows what he's doing.
Do we really not have a defensive coach Do we actually need a defensive coach Do defensive players not know how to defend
He'll be here until the end of the season, and if he's here next season I believe it will be completely dependent on whether firstly we stay in this division (which I believe we will) but more importantly the manner in which we stay in this division (does he put together a winning run towards the end?) We're not going to fall into the trap of sacking someone unnecessarily and costing the club more money during a global pandemic, especially given the fact we're back to having no fans in now. As frustrating as this season has been, the only real objective was stay in the league and try and rebuild the team. Is he the man to take us forward for the next 3 years? Maybe not, but at least we’ve got a promising spine of the team in Dieng, Dickie and Chair.
I think for what it's worth, that what we are missing most of all are players that can put the ball in the correct one of the two pieces of netting they hang up at football games. Get players in who can do that regularly, all the other problems probably won't seem so big after all
I dont think the club or the players have helped him and we have played some half decent football at times, that said new manager calling in a couple of favours to get one or two loan players in for the transfer window who could keep us up...is it that stage yet?
Warburton is a decent guy and I like his football philosophy. He wants to play out from the back, pushing the fullbacks high, spreading the centre backs and getting Cameron or Carroll to drop in and give an option to receive if the others can't receive it. Trouble is, he's expecting very, very average players on the ball, with the exception of Carroll, to play this way. It looks lovely when it works and we've played some lovely football all over the pitch at times. However, when other coaches counter this he has no answer. No plan B. It's a big risk to sack him, but can we afford not to and risk relegation? I think Wednesday and Derby will probably survive, leaving us in the ****e.
We keep sacking Managers, appoint a new one, don't improve except with Colin and a bit last season with Warburton, supporters throw their toys out of the pram, and Inevitably after a few months the Manager is sacked, the next one comes in, we dont improve, toy throwing starts again, Manager gets sacked, we appoint another Manager, nothing improves, the toys go out of the pram again, Manager gets sacked again, new Manager comes in, dont improve, toys everywhere again, Manager sacked, new one appointed, results dont approve, toys out the pram, Manager sacked. Each time there's a change of Manager, there is a change of the coaching team, change of style, change of players, but we havent improved and it all costs A Lot. What's the f***** point. I see no point in sacking Warburton. He did improve us a bit last season and got us playing some decent football. Hoos and Les were responsible for removing 2 regulars including the team captain, not having the U23's in training, no GK coach for the restart last season, showing no ambition to go for the play offs. That wasnt Warburton. We lost the players who were getting our goals last season before this one, Eze, Hugill and Wells, and others. We replaced them cheaply, obviously too cheaply, especially up front, and the midfield aren't providing many goals either. For me the Board have to sanction strengthening of the squad as early as possible in January if they possibly can, and especially with goal scorers. It will cost a bit, yes If they don't we are in big risk of relegation which will doutbless cost a lot, as would sacking and replacing Warburton with someone our History tells us is unlikely to do any better.
I can’t see the board sanctioning a January buy-in. It’s more likely that Warburton might go (if as has been said his contract ends this season then there isn’t much to pay up). But I too am fed up with the managerial merry-go-round, but I also don’t want to see us into a relegation battle we could lose. There needs to be a big discussion at HQ, because if there isn’t a viable alternative to bring in as manager what’s the point! I’m sure they thought they could get through this season comfortably without being relegated, but it isn’t happening. Big problems require big decisions ... and that’s what Les, Hoos and the board are paid for. There is a lot riding on which way they leap!
