As the title says. Hopefully the rest of the country will take pleasure out of us ripping Holloway for his last comments about us Should have also mentioned its on the 10th of December
I cannot believe that Sky have wrecked my chances of seeing a game yet again, I am on an Early shift and the 12:45 kick off rules out my chances of getting to St Marys in time.
Think I'd hold out on that until we're a couple of goals up. If they're winning they could sing it at us!
No sing it at the beginning. then even if they end up thrashing them still sing it. Show we have a sense of humour unlike Holler away
Hollaways remarks as I remember were not that bad, Didnt he just comment on our song of " Premiership your having a laugh " He didnt play a full strength side and if he had we might well have lost ( Yes I was at the game ) I still think he is ok.
I like Holloway, however he was a little too bitter in his post match interview. We all knew it wasn't a first choice Blackpool team but we were football fans having a laugh. He should have taken it in that good spirit, but he was under the cosh a bit at that point as they had started to slide down the table. He was very detrimental towards Southampton
You're forgetting that we also made something like 8 changes to our starting line up at the time. We just had a little more strength in depth. Personally, I like Holloway too. He's a breath of fresh air from the normally grim managers you see interviewed [with the exception of our Nige, of course]. He's basically good natured, fair minded, and his teams play adventurous, exciting football.
Holloway was daft even mentioning it. If the opposition fans sang it at Saints in our Prem years I would be annoyed we had given them reason to sing it, but I wouldn't have got on my high-horse. If we lose a game to a lower team, their fans will sing 'top of the league you're having a laugh'. We'll have to have a funny reply ready, though hopefully we won't need it
Did he not also say 'Southampton aren't a big club anymore' if so then he deserves everything that is thrown at him. I bet he does not take it in his stride like our Nige at Brighton last year.
Just found this quote: Holloway bit back at the *tormentors. He said: “I thought that was disrespectful. They may be a League One club now. They may have been a big club once. “But they would gladly swap with us if they could. “Maybe they are jealous that a little club like ours can be holding its own with the big boys. “Southampton have obviously hit some hard times, but I am sure they will bounce back to the top level sooner or later... and good luck to them.” I think he was just feeling the pressure at the time, i hold no mallice against him personally
Guarantee that two things will happen in that game. 1) The Northam will continue to boo Kevin Phillips and sing a lame song about his wife. 2) Kevin Phillips will score against us yet again. Both the Phillips and Holloway things do show up how precious some fans are. Some think it's ok to yell / sing whatever they like at players/managers and yet if they dare to say something honestly in return, it's mock-outrage time !
Well ultimately, I don't think that getting relegated classes as holding its own with the big boys. Hell, it's not even like they're flying at the top of the Championship right now - unlike some!
