"McInnes gets players motivated and gets the best out of them".Paul Buckle did this with a lower team, but when he stepped up a class?Ask the Sags about it.
Two top 8 finnishes with ST JOHNSTONE is a great achievment! they wernt even in the top flight a few years ago! i dont just base my knowledge from WIKI, i have family who live in Scotland & know everything about Scotish football, ive also been to a few St Johnstone games and seen first hand how energetic & motivated McInnes players are! Dave Jones would be my first choice with McInnes a very close second! were Bristol City, not Aston Villa (O'neil) or Man City (Hughes). some people need a reality check.
O.R so 2 top 8 finishes in what standard of football?Without the top 2,where would you place the SPL?I think you should apologise to Shiny, the only thing he gets wrong is at times over enthusiasm. He gives this board a bit of a lift and people like you come on and berate him,and spout **** about your family, who know all there is to know about Scottish football.I could write everything about Scottish football on the back of a stamp.
So you should pick a manager on skill and ability ,to lead a team, not what league he has managed in.There are some very good managers on the downs, are you suggesting we should widen our search?
The thing is, some people are never happy mate.Question is can anyone be worse than Millen.............?
Having read about him I wouldn't be unhappy with McInnes
Viva/Forza Shiny too
As for Shiny - love the enthusiasm. Too many of his mates probably tool around with Man U / Chelsea / Man City / Arsenal shirts on. Don't shoot down a young one who at least is invested in our historically underperforming club. We need more like him to carry the torch............
not quite no, most are city fans, my best mate sadly is a gas head and were not "young" 18/19
Bless! Christ alive Shiny - you're young enough to be the grandson of some of the old codgers on here! The good thing about this forum is that there's a wide range of interesting characters of all ages, backgrounds and locations.
Anyhow, I found a pic of Shiny immediately after he heard about the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Ollie's Blackpool:

that was long before the blackpool game bluebaldeeExaclty. All this 'big name' boss lark is pointless as they are all un-employed for a reason. Billy Davies would be a travesty, he'd fall out with the board in days. I would much prefer a young manager with a point to prove that will lift the club and shape it how they want.
Shiny's well informed 'bloke from st Johnstone' has achieved more there than his predecessor, a certain Owen Coyle. Look what Coyle did for Burnley and Bolton, where the manager comes from is not important in my opinion as long as they have the skills required.
Each to their own though, will be interesting to see who comes in.
Hello, Saints fan here and this is my first post! good to be here.
First up, of course McInnes is a gamble. He's not proven in the championship, or outside the SPL - which isn't a great league by any stretch of the imagination. That shouldn't rule him out though, there are lots of managerial appointments that have been 'risky' for the same reasons. Sir Alex moved to Man U from Aberdeen! Of course Aberdeen had won a european trophy but it was still a massive step up. Modern day, look at Coyle to Burnley/Bolton (this seasons start is an aberration - look how many tough games they've had), Moyes to Everton etc. These risks can pay off if the managers are backed well by fans and a supportive board.
McInnes has been great for St Johnstone, and our last great manager Owen Coyle has been a success at Premiership and Championship level. McInnes is a great motivator, a great man manager (nothing but positive words coming out from players, Sandaza going out of his way to praise him), a very good tactician capable of changing things when things get tough. Furthermore he is exceptionally good at identifying weaknesses in a team, moving swiftly in the transfer market and strenghening a squad with a minimum of fuss. We didn't score much last year, and the difference this year since Sheridan and Sandaza came in is that we've gone from looking at midtable as a great achievement to looking at getting into Europe if we can keep playing as well as we are.
And Derek McInnes is a big part of that but I know that I want to see him succeed down south, and he definitely will. Don't write him off at all!
