i only type on this thread when im pissed. i can normally refrain from doing it when sober because i dont know enough about the science of driving an F1 car. but once im winkered i cant resist. atm i dont post on any other threads. my whole point is since 2014 when he started winning titles every year, he has had a much better car which makes it very hard to compare him to other current drivers and those greats in recent history. i used to post on the F1 autosport forum which is serious stuff and they really do know their onions not like on here. you say his tyre management is incredible. do you not think this is an area where the car helps? he can race through the field and still have better condition tyres. im only half pissed now and realise its a waste of time trying to get my point over red bull were the best car - vettel won it 4 times mercedes is the best car - hamilton wins it 6 times and what makes you think i hate him? sometimes he is the only reason i watch f1 im deeply hurt by your nasty comments to me. your not a nice person are you.
apologies for tipsy meanderings i m boring at the best of times never mind when ive had a shandy last comment from me on this thread despite the possibility of having plenty of george russel ammo this weekend to show how much of an advantage the car has. verstappen (who i do hate and root for hamilton to smash him every race) said recently anyone would win sat in that car. sour grapes? or not far from the truth? hamilton is no doubt a great driver. but i think the car is making him look greater than he is. some say he is the best ever. i dont agree. but the mercedes is the best car ever.
0.026 seconds off pole position. Imagine what he could have done in a car designed for him with more than 2 days to get used to it.
Over a 2 second lead in the race already. Hamilton and Russell are obviously talented but this car is miles miles miles ahead of everything else. Would Russell be fastest pretty much all weekend if he had come in to race in any other car?
Not as much of an expert on these matters as some who post on here obviously, but in my humble layman's opinion, no.
It certainly puts Hamilton's 'achievements' into context, especially when compared to the greats of the sport.
He's back in the points now, the fact the car is just lightyears ahead of all the others is even more noticeable at the back of the pack, it's passing everything with ease
