I don't really care about win percentages THAT much. What concerns me more is the desire and style of play. You could see under Emery something was very wrong in those last few months. Then under Arteta immediately you saw a complete change in so many players. We might have played 5 at the back and counter-attacked more than we had historically. But we looked solid. Players cared. We had good passages of play. When we played City, Chelsea etc we looked almost on a level playing field. But all that has now gone since the charity shield game against Liverpool. That was the last time we played quite well. This is why player ability I don't think is the issue. There's something underlying in the background, or something psychological.
When we looked better players like auba was getting praise for back tracking and helping defending Not happening now
The funny thing is in the past the fans have been blamed for being “toxic” etc and that’s what’s caused our downfall. interesting now seeing empty stadiums with no fan influence, and our team is still ****...
Great win tonight. Great performance from start to finish. We played excellent football throughout and looked like scoring every time we went forward. My only real criticism is that we didn't take advantage of all our chances. We could have won by 7 or 8 and it wouldn't have flattered us. Were really in the mood tonight. I'm not his biggest fan, but thought Lacazette was brilliant. Not just his goal (what a strike it was), but his general ability to dribble past players, play through balls and receive the ball on the half-turn to nip away from defenders. Pepe and Nelson were dangerous all game - shame neither of them could get on the scoresheet. Happy for Smith-Rowe to come back with a goal. Overall, happy days. 5/5 wins in the Europa and a morale-boosting win ahead of the NLD. There's not a chance we play as expansive as we did tonight but at least we are capable of it.
Fwiw this is a very good post. Ultimately it's this which holds back any club with decent players/squad from being a success in the long run.
Lacazette back scoring again. We need this - was a excellent goal. Did'nt watch the match only seen highlights but looked like a decent performance. Also Pablo Mari back with a goal - lets hope he can get back into the first 11 soon.
Willian has been an awful signing. He's slow, looses the ball all the time, does'nt create anything either.
How long do we give Arteta, surely after this game, he needs to go! Also how long do we give the sulky Auba? He is so disinterested it is unreal. Should he really be starting? He is dining out on his previous season, high time he spends some time on the subs bench!
Very mourinho performance here. We’ve done all the huffing and puffing, and they’ve caught us on the break twice. the problem is we still have 0 shots on target despite all that huffing and puffing.
2-0... And Partey has to come off. Partey and Saka were our best players I thought. We havnt been bad but Willian, Lacazette and Auba have to do soo much better. Its embaressing how many chances we need to score. Tottenham basically have two chances and score two goals.
Worried that Partey is off as he is the only one capable of making a tackle without giving away a free kick or getting booked - Xhaka and Cebellos are too slow and wtf is Willian and Auba doing
Any of our kids, want some one putting in a shift and biting hands off to get a game.. What has abua done this season to Warren a start
Yeah Partey was the main positive thing about that half and now he's injured. Expect either an excellent ot totally useless performace from Ceballos in the Second.
Very unfortunate about the partey injury. It looks like he has a problem that may linger. I really think there’s some players in the squad who can use a rest. Auba, Bellerin, Xhaka all need to be dropped for a bit because they are all low on confidence and not performing even up to their standards.
So the fixture list hasn’t been kind and we have played and lost away to Liverpool Man City and Spurs, and fortunate to beat United. so later in the season we can look forward to losing at home to Liverpool Man City, Spurs, and inevitably to United
