If you can get consecutive seasons in it though you can build and get used to playing twice a week, look at Spurs. Plus with the manager you've got now you'd actually have a decent shot of winning it.
It's the same trophy. And the initial question was finishing top 4 wasn't it? Pointless going back beyond 2010 though as the top '6' didn't exist then.
He asked who got a top 4 spot, the club's PNP mentioned have done so in PL era, it just didn't give a CL spot at the time. Like I say though it's pointless in the context we're talking as the top 6 (Spuds and City) have only been around a decade.
It’s the Thursday / Sunday thing which often seems to completely **** sides up for whatever reason, together with the CL clubs getting a free shot at the knock rounds that does me about it. The prize money compared to the CL is utter ****, and it’s not the competition the top players want to play in, so it’s not much of a draw. The last time we did any good in it was under Bob Martin, iirc we absolutely pissed the group stage, won every game, got to the last 16 won the first leg then got bummed senseless by Yarmelenko in Kiev. Pretty sure we flirted with relegation for a decent period that season as well.
