I agree - regardless of my opinion on safety I can't see that happening. Boxing hasn't been banned despite the long litany of dementia cases associated with getting punched in the head for a living.
It's banned for under 12's in training isn't it. There's also talk opening up about the link between heading the ball and dementia later in life. I don't see how they could ban it altogether though. The lighter balls must be better than the old fashioned casey.
The dementia cases in football date from a time when we used a ball that was nearer to a medicine ball (especially when wet ffs) than the lightweight things we use now. I can understand the argument for young kids to avoid repetitive heading exercises, but that’s where it should end imo.
Remember it well. I think sadiosalah was referring to the risk of head clashes rather than heading the ball itself, but like I said I can't see that being banned. Punch-drunk syndrome has been known since before even I was born, but it hasn't prevented boxing.
