Imho the Falklands War is the reason that Maradona called it the "hand of God" goal and why the media never let it go.
The Falklands factor is the primary reason for the longevity of the incident and the game.
"I remember watching it as a 19 yr old and my honest reaction was how the **** did he get away with it?"
Exactly my rant at that moment (WTF had NONE of the match officials seen it ?? ) .
"I also remember him being kicked stupid in the match, which to me is as much a part of
cheating as him punching the ball in the net."
1. Twas hardly the level of Pele vs Portugal in 1966.
2. It did not go unpunished.
On #2, Fenwick had already been booked for fouling someone.
He was the last man on the run to goal 2, and I maintain to this
day he did not attempt a "take one for the team" tackle precisely
because he knew it would be a second yellow (hence his limp effort) .
