Yeah, pop psych doesn’t work either. There is no faux pas, Regardless of historical guff or any excuse to allow such phrases to slip through, the root of the saying is perfectly clear.

If you don’t think the phrase “handbags” infers a female stereotype, fine. But it does, regardless of how you want to plea because the basis of that phrase is rooted in sexism. What you think and what actually exists in reality are in fact two distinct things and trying to make out I was being hysterical or daft doesn’t change that, no matter how aloof or right you want to appear.

Deal with it.

You're just waffling and squirming now. It's embarrassing for you.

You've made an arse of yourself again, and shown yourself to be a hypocrite, so I'll leave the final word(s) to you, as you'll only keep digging and looking even dafter if I respond. :emoticon-0128-hi:

Stop digging you offensive sexist. The society on this board has spoken. By your own standards, you can only sit quietly and accept whatever punishment is coming your way. You attributed handbags to a specific gender role. There is no ambiguity.

Them's your own rules, so you should be happy to live by them.
Can we burn him?

I'll move this if someone points me at a more appropriate existing thread, but ffs, these people really need to give their head a shake.

Anyway, in this non-gender world, aren't the BBC the ones being sexist by assuming handbags are only associated with one type of person?

BBC football pundit suspended for referring to players' scuffle as 'handbags'
BBC pundit Steve “Tommo” Thompson described an incident in the recent clash between Swindon Town and Lincoln City as "handbags", landing himself in hot water with the broadcasting giants.

Presumably Tommo’s suspension is subject to an appeal?
In which case, it’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings.
