Match Preview;
Obviously I am not in any way jealous of their flashy new duplo stadium, but Brentford are the only club who have benefited from the pandemic, as they have the advantage of being used to playing in front of a very small crowd. Credit to them though, they have got on and built themselves a brand spanking new stadium, very close to their former home...with a capacity of 17,250. They even saved a huge amount of money during the development stage of the project, by copying the design style from the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush. I'm not bitter at all.
Brentford currently sit 8th in the league, having won on Tuesday night, 0-1 at Barnsley, the goal scored by Toney to bring his tally to 11 for the season. Our win kept us only 3 points behind Brentford, in 13th place...with 3 wins in our last 5. I enjoyed Tuesday night, and watching our attacking play was very enjoyable...although the fact still remains, we conceded 2, and still need to tighten up our defense or we'll end up dropping points in other matches. I'd also like to see Dykes, as our main striker, score from open play, as so far his goals have come from the penalty spot, and we can't rely on getting penalties to score goals.
A win for Brentford on Friday night will see them temporarily move up to 3rd in the table, and further strengthen their bid to get back into the playoffs, after their defeat in the playoff final last year. I must confess, I was expecting them to collapse after the departure of Ollie Watkins, and so fair play, they have done very well to maintain their level from last year having lost a player who scored 25 for them in the league last year.
As always, I'll add team news if it goes on the official, and others can add what they know.
