I make no pretence of understanding how this virus works, but logic suggests that it is the restrictions that reduce the infection rate and by lifting them you risk increasing it again.
This seems likely to reoccur until either the infection runs its course, or until our measures eradicate it.
With apparently effective vaccines on the horizon, it seems reasonable to me to be patient, wait until we have the situation under control, and then the sooner we can get back to normality - or near it at least.

You're right. Logically restrictions will show a lower infection rate which is what's happening. However, even with lockdown, other areas are showing a daily rise. I think two key factors for Liverpool are the mass testing which has found hundreds of asymptomatic cases which will stop a spread and also the fact that we spiked a lot earlier than other parts of the country which should mean we come out of it earlier and while other areas are still yet to reach their spike.

Like you I have no idea how this virus operates. I just have hope that if it's deemed safe to allow fans back in stadia then the areas with the lower infection rates should surely be the first ones to let the fans return. We also don't know how each club will decide which fans get let in. Maybe for Liverpool they ask only fans who have proof of a recent negative test.

Mixed on this. Part of me thinks should be all or nothing. Shouldn’t let 1 prem club have fans cos they sit 10 miles away but in a diff town with diff rules to the next one along. Just offers an advantage to them compared to others.

however, I understand that lower league clubs, even with reduced capacity, need the fan money. Given how most prem clubs will prob run at a loss having to have a whole stadium operational for only 4K fans maybe scrap it for the prem (given all games are available on tv) and just allow lower league clubs to open their doors for now until it’s safer to let more people in?

I see your point. I've been having a re-think and I'm not sure if it's fair to allow fans back in some areas and not others. Maybe it should be all or nothing as you say. You can bet if it goes to a PL club vote that the usual suspects will be looking out for their own interests. I think having fans in the stadium will be a huge advantage.
 
In summary:

Tier 1 = pints
Tier 2 = pints with chips
Tier 3 = no pints

not sure having 2000 fans in a PL stadium will be a huge advantage .
 
So as of today 500,000 people have been vaccinated, thats over a 16 day period. Sounds impressive, right?

But if you start to break down the numbers.
Its roughly 31,000 people a day (so far)
going at that rate it will take about 5 years to vaccinate the population of the UK.

And that's just everyone to have the first single dose.

They really need to up the rate.

Haven't even made available to general population in US yet. I'm hoping I get mine soon though since I work in a health care facility.

I've heard Spring before general population can get one here.
 
I was supposed to be having my first flu jab today. However, I've cancelled it as I don't want to feel like a sack of **** over Crimbo. Will get it done in the New Year.
 
This Covid thing has done the western world a good one. Still trying to understand how we have gotten through it relatively unscathed considering our weak healthcare systems.

Hope you all get through it as we all wait for normality or some form of it

Flu jab doesn't normally make you feel that bad, and if it does, usually only lasts a day tops.

Now sometimes it does make it feel like you been punched in the arm by Mike Tyson for a few days, and this year was one of those for me. But its more like an old flabby intoxicated Mike Tyson punch than a fit and active Mike Tyson punch.

Got my sign up authorization from the hospital yesterday to get my stabby stabby, so I set earliest appointnent possible, today at noon. (That's about 28oclock GMT I think)
So I should have a nice red arm for Xmas.

Also getting my blood work done today, so I'm getting needles sucking stuff out of me and needles sticking stuff in me. A very needful day
 
One needle down. Had my blood sucked (they kinda botched it today, more painful than normal)... Now I wait for a few hours before crossing the street again and getting the vaccine. (Best Xmas gift work could have given me<ok>)
