A new book, The War on the BBC, by Barwise and York, is available from Penguin (no relation) at £10:99. The authors cite one of the tactics in this war is to paint the BBC as left-wing.
I must say, the BBC is extremely Woke these days.
And very politically correct.
Many people (rightly or wrongly) associate those things with being left-wing.
I don't hate the BBC by the way.
I was pretty annoyed by it during most of 2019 and said so. But I don't want to see the changes to it that @Horrendous Hairpiece says he does.

, but the BBC has grandiloquently announced today that they have “pulled out all the stops” to deliver to our living rooms on Xmas Day special festive episodes of Call The Midwife, Mrs Brown’s Boys ....and Doctor Who.
The storyline for this year’s Xmas Doctor Who looks intriguing.
Jodie Whittaker’s Time Person comes out as pan sexual, and falls in love with a Cyberman who is trans gendering.
Instead of a honeymoon, they celebrate their civil partnership on the Planet Galifrey by taking the knee at a BLM event.
The married couple then retire to the Tardis, and spend their wedding night doing funny things with the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.

You have to look hard to find evidence of this. Considering the amount of broadcasting they do on TV and radio it doesn't exactly jump out at me. A huge fuss has been made of one song banned from one station, but honestly, how important is that in the great scheme of things? Search the Radio Times to get a fair view of what is on. Somebody has made huge blunders, there has been some awful scandals, with the Diana interview probably another one, but these are reasons to be sad at a decline in standards rather than happy at another opportunity to attack them.
I think the bigger problem is the quality of output from the BBC.
Every evening I have a drink with my staff for an hour (we are all single and have created our own bubble). The ladies talk about what is on TV later in the evening and there is almost never anything to interest me. I have sat in the lounge in front of the TV just twice since I bought my new sofa a year ago.
I have no interest whatever in programmes about dancing, cooking, dream properties, restoration, finding antiques or anything using the word "celebrity" and that seems to rule out most of what is available.
However, the BBC lays itself open to allegations of left-wing bias time after time. Employment policy, lack of straight white male presenters, too much Emily Maitliss and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, the countryside being racist all being examples of things which grate with ordinary people.
When people raise things with me I just suggest that they do as I do and find something else to occupy their time.

Too many soaps and reality TV on all channels. TV is too bland. I've enjoyed the jazz on BBC4 recently, but I'm in a minority of one there I assume.

How would that apply to the radio stations, including the much respected World Service?
I forgot soaps, I have never watched one as an adult.
The last character I can name is Ena Sharples.
I am sure it should be possible to put a code into an FM radio signal which is unlocked by a pass, in the same way as PPV satellite TV.
For selfish reasons I encourage support of local radio. Ours is paid for by subscribers and advertisers after a Lottery grant of £10k towards the equipment.
Another minority view: Too much competition has taken down the quality of drama and comedy. When Galton and Simpson were wring Steptoe &son (just one example) they knew that an audience of Xmillion would stay in to watch it, and it brought out the best in them, and the way they developed the characters. Only Fools and Horses was probably the last comedy people stayed in to watch. BBC4 is reshowing BoysFrom theBlackstuff, you don't get that sort of drama now, it's all murder mysteries.
