He's been great post lockdown and now nobody is questioning his place in the starting XI. Him and JWP dovetail nicely in CM and he has become more adventurous with his play and is no longer just a spoiler. I'm very happy that he has signed.

I knew this day would come eventually :(
I (naively perhaps) thought that due to:
1. His age
2. The fee we would demand
3. The fact he is a Saints fan
4. He has been to a top club already

He might actually end up staying here. I really hope he does but the longer this goes on the more I think he is waiting for an offer.

Am I right in thinking he will have just 1 year left come season-end? If so then we are not in a strong position at all

Hang on where's all this about Ings come from? It was reported by The Athletic who are normally reliable that he was close to a new deal. I don't see why the situation would have changed since then. These things tend to take time.

Exactly.

Bertrand and Stephens have pretty much agreed new deals as well, but nothing announced yet.

Thought it was 2023 but you're right that it'll be one year left after this season. Still think he'll sign though.

Let me explain my joke. It was suggested that I was wrong....so I humorously suggested that I had finally been wrong after 70 years (whilst secretly knowing I was rarely wrong :)). Sometimes I think I’m wasted on here. :(

Romeu has definitely become a better player this season. Before he seemed a red card waiting to happen but now there is some real quality to his play. Good to hear him say he has worked on his game.

He is a 100 percent commitment player. He may have a bad game but will never stop trying or working. It is never bad to have these players in your squad.

There is no way you were right for 30 years pre birth though Fran

Agreed. Danny is a decent bloke too. He knows that as much as he's done very well for us, we've done very well by him and Saints took a punt on him when other clubs didn't want to or weren't prepared to guarantee him starts.

Whether he truly sees himself here for one more year, two years or even more - it makes sense for everyone involved that he is rewarded with a pay rise, the club gets to protect any future transfer fee and at the same time Danny is able to continue lapping up the media spotlight and the fan adulation.

Be interesting to see if a release clause is present and at what amount.

Possible Danny is just waiting to see how we do this season.. if we end up in Europe, I'm not sure there would be another club he would want to move to. If we miss out, I'm sure he'll think about leaving as he is ambitious with the ability too, and I wouldn't blame him either... We therefore need to be in Europe. !
