    Match preview;
    The BBC is currently reporting that some fans could be allowed back into grounds as soon as Christmas. The O2 and the Royal Albert Hall are going to have limited audiences next month, and so why not sports events too? There is hope at the end of the tunnel.

    On the footballing front, we welcome high flying Watford to the Kiyan Prince on Saturday afternoon. Watford's success this year seems to have been built on a solid defense...they have only conceded 9 in 11 games, and their biggest win so far was a 3-1 win over Blackburn. The stats suggest they have been very good at winning by one, and not giving up. They have won their last two games 3-2, with the winning goals coming in the 83rd and 91st minutes. Joao Pedro is their top scorer with 4 goals.

    It seems a long time ago that we lost 3-1 to Blackburn, having won our previous two games. The Blackburn games was two full weeks ago, and I am hoping at least one of those weeks has been a rest week, so the players can properly make up some of the time they lost due to the shorter summer break. Ever the optimist, if Warburton can work out how to consistently get the best out of Chair, BOS, Dykes and maybe Bonne too, it could still be an interesting season. Even if nothing is achieved this year...it'll still be nice to feel we are heading in the right direction.

    I'll add team news when it goes on the official, and others can add what they know. Wanted to get the thread up early so we can start discussing football again...

    Cheers...I started doing the list and thought..."must not forget to include the last day of the season in 2011"...then I missed it off. :emoticon-0114-dull:

    Disappointed for Michel Ngonge to not make it into the list of heroes at both clubs.

    Chris Day who I just looked up. Thought he played far more than that for us and them but liked him a lot.

    The great Tony Currie started his professional career at Watford (though he had been a schoolboy with us first). He played a few games for them before moving to Sheffield United, then to us via Leeds.

    A joy to watch.

    Don't feel so bad about missing him off...only played a handful of games for Watford plus a little while before my time.

    Another in the Bowles/Marsh/Worthington/Hudson mould who never got the Caps to match his talent...

    Could go either way this one - our travels have seen only one game out of 5 produce more than one goal (scored 2 and conceded 3). All our entertainment has been delivered at the Vic, which has become something of a fortress in our absence (with no fans there to get on their nerves !). Our new manager Vlad appears to be building from the back (the polite way of putting it) so a low scoring match is on the cards. Good luck for the rest of the season after this one.

    Nice thread daverangers. It has to be a good time for you with only one of our current back four not involved in Internationals or out injured. Two of the team have just arrived back from Africa Wednesday, so if they play it may not be for 90 minutes. This is maybe where the five subs will help, but I am not sure we have that many who can slot into the defence. Whatever the result let's all hope for a good game that will lift some of the gloom.

    Thanks for that oldfrenchhorn...hopefully your injury woes will make it a fairly competitive and enjoyable game to watch. Obviously I want us to win, but having spent four years living in either North Watford or just opposite The Southern Cross, I do have a soft spot for Watford...best of luck for the rest of the season, except Saturday and January 30th of course.

    My first memory of watching Watford at QPR was on 31st December 1966. Rangers were comfortably leading the 3rd division and Watford were in the chasing pack and on a quite a good run themselves . They managed to keep a clean sheet for 45 minutes. I'd love to know what Alec Stock put in the half time drinks and I'm sure my memory is playing tricks here but Rangers came out firing. especially Mark Lazarus, and Rangers were either 3 or 4-0 up within 6 minutes of the re-start. It ended 4-1. Happy days when football was not over-complicated. Teams went out to score goals and if you had a good goalie who could save them at the other end that was a bonus.

    If we can get 4 points from the 3 games in the next 6 days we'd have done ok......

    Anything more will be a bonus....

    I'm afraid I see 3. Can't see anything from Watford or Brentford. Makes Rotherham a bit of a must win and our record against them isn't great recently either! Sorry to be gloomy!
