No way was he at fault for either. In fairness he’s never let Southgate down, he saves his howlers for us.
Saw people discussing him the other week on some video, most of the group wanted him dropped - but one of them was defending him and basically arguing that he should be considered the number 1 and all players should be given their chance internationally based on their international performances.
Essentially Southgate should just rewatch all the previous England games and pay less attention to league games.
I think the logic is there, different systems, coaching and everything.

If you look at the current form of his rivals Pope isn’t playing particularly well at present and has nowhere near the distribution ability of Pickford & Henderson isn’t getting game time at United. So until Southgate has reason to drop him for his England form, he keeps the shirt.
