Its become quite clear to me now that Bruce's perception of Sunderland AFC is that were an average bottom half club that can never dream of the heights of Europe!

Why else would he be so proud at his so called lucky as **** achievement of finishing 10th last season?

Well soz like Mr Bruce but we hold our club in a slightly higher regard and do believe we can once again be a force to be reckoned with!

With this in mind, your obviously not the man to take us forward so do us all a favour and piss off coz i for one have had enough of your sly digs at the crowd that pays your wages and has been hugely supportive of your ridiculous lack of tactical awareness and freak substitutions and countless excuses for lack lustre emotionless performances from a team YOU manage!

Why was our finishing 10th so lucky last season? Were Man Utd lucky? A lot luckier than we were - the table does not lie -at the end of a season mate the table does not ever lie no matter what so I don't believe luck had any more to do with us finishing 10th than it did for those who won leagues and those who got relegated.

Where is that "Luck" this season? Everyone says this term "You make your own luck" which, if true, means we deserved to be 10th last season as we made that luck. This season, the luck has been missing somewhet - OK so 3 lucky goals against Stoke but other than that when have we had match changing luck??

We only finished 10th coz we beat an already relegated team and the Mags let slip a 3 goal lead amongst other things!

What im saying is that he is going on like we finished a solid 10th and we didnt at all!
 
I dont think Bruce see's us as a mid table club in general, but see's the fans expecting a massive change around in fortunes too quickly. Fans seem to want us in the top 6 right now, rather than accepting steady progress.

This season we will be a mid table club, and probably next season as well - we should can dream of europe but we should accept that it might not come for another 2 or 3 seasons yet as we steadily improve.
 
I just think it's a natural reaction for anyone to defend themselves when their backs are against the wall...
I'm certainly not happy with a lot of his tactics/selections, but I certainly don't think he deserves the level of stick he is getting at present.

This.

If we had finished strongly and 10th that would suggest we were on track for something under this manger. We didnt though did we.

We limped for 4 full months, getting across the line at the very last gasp, courtesy of a crap mag team that threw a 3 goals lead away with the last kick of the season in the 94th minute. That limping hasnt stopped yet and we are still limping along imo, only this time we dont look like we have the personnel to get us out of it. We have no Bent, no Gyan and no hope.

Bruce has hidden behind a plethora of excuses in his time at Huddersfiled, Palace, Sheff Utd and Wigan but at SAFC he has been found out to be second rate. He is delivering 2nd rate tactics, team selections and his attitude towards the fans is distinctly 2nd rate with his latest bull **** statements.

I just hope an pray that the Chairman or the Owner realise this too before its all too late.

He has to go and go now.
 
The man has stated that he doesnt get the "great expectations" the fans have and he goes onto say that some of the players dont understand it either, well guess what Steve if maybe the players you mention and yourself dare to dream and have half as much determination as us lot then we would be a much better club.

We dont want no half arsers coming here with low goals and expectations, we strive for success as should they and you, get a grip man you fat plonker and get some fightiong spirit instead of trying to take the pressure off yourself.

Last season against Chelsea and our strike force of Bent/Gyan/Welbeck/Campbell brought about expectations for this club, what is wrong with expectation? Its your ****ing job to deliver it and failing so far.

Im starting to think InBruceWeTrusted.
 
I am resigned to the fact that Bruce will be here for the forseeable future. I am beginning to think our club is cursed or something, we have an amazing owner, a class chairman, world class facilities and a superb crowd base, yet we stick with a guy whose record is the same as another mag lover...McEnemy. What would Bruce have to do to lose his job...he seems untouchable. Shame really..was hoping this time would different, guess I was wrong eh!!!

Thank the lord there is someone who sees straight!

INWT - Of course he's proud of top 10, because it's somewhere this club hasn't been - 2 seasons out of 30 aside - for a long time. It is most definitely, unequivocally, a measure of progression. For a club who in the past decade have smashed the 'lowest top flight points ever' record, and then just for good measure, smashed it again, I'd say top 10 is progress.

5 years ago we were bottom of the Championship and now we're a top 10 club, with all the foundations to push on. I'm not accepting that 10th is our limit - far from it - and of course we all dream of Europe, of Europa and CL nights at the SoL. But it's the hardest part of the plan- we've only played European football once before - and to get there, it will take time.

There is literally no pleasing some people. We could qualify for the Champions League and people would still be complaining we didn't have a decent cup run.

Oh **** off mate, no one would be complaining if we had seen progression since january but we havent, infact in many peoples eyes weve gone backwards!

Bruce has ran out of ideas! All we ask as fans is that we have a crack at the cups and we look interested and have a will to win but were not seeing that and that is ultimatley Bruces fault simple as that!

When i watch Sunderland, all i ask is that they put a shift in and i and a lot of other fans dont believe this is what we are getting!
 
Chestermackem I think you are absolutley spot on mate -- bigging up the 10th place finish last season didnt really tell the true picture of a pretty poor season- in that you had a 3/4 month shocking spell, lost your talisman and main/omly goal threat. To me finishing below 7th or 8th and finishing 14th is of pretty similar achievemnet level.
As for the 'progress' theorists its a load of twaddle, as was said if lost last game would that have shown the true level of progress? Of course it would.
I cant really agree with Stusafc and dansafcmans opinions-- fans arent looking for top 6 now-- they want signs of 'good' progress i.e. good football, exciting players, and maybe a few goals along the way. He has spent plenty of cash and whats he got apart from nowt much ? The fans are sick of his bullshit, his excuses n digs at the innocent and dont see the squad developing significantly. As for being a mid table club this season I would say even this is only a possibility and not the certainty that the investment demands.
Not winding anyone up just offering a view --no offence meant lads.
 
I'm not a 'Bib or a Bob' but what pisses me off of late his Bruce's comment's that the team needs time to 'gel' we are 7 games in, surely we can't afford to wait until game 38 until we suddenly find our feet and find it's all to late and we are
already relegated by then.

Apart from Ji and Wickham we have player's who have experience in the prem league surely it doesn't take 20-30 games
for these player's to know how to play together!!!
 
I agree I am so sick of Bruce being f**king smug about that lucky top 10 last season. By all accounts we should have finished 15th, thats where we deserved to finish. We played a relegated, short on confidence West Ham team, while others were on their hols...

Bruce has taken is backwards...

AND btw most fans would agree with me our expectations are not high. I am not looking for Europe, just not a relegation battle, and 4 wins in about 21 games... now thats not high expectations.
 
The financial investment in our club club means that comparing current achievements to the past is unbalanced. We should be expecting high standards. We are paying transfer fees that we could only dream of under the Murray regime, and the same can be said about player wages. So historic comparisons are out of the window IMO. We should look to other clubs to benchmark our succes - the likes of Everton, Fulham and Stoke.

I would be elated with a top 10 finish and having a bloody good crack at a Cup. I don't think we are capable of a top 6 finish. That is not a criticism.

The resources are there and Bruce is not talented enough to use them. He can spend the money, but can't deliver the goods

I completely agree we've been below par since January, but you can hardly put Bent leaving/the worst injury crisis in memory on Bruce's shoulders can you? Or Gyan going to play in front of crowds of 400 in the middle east? I'm not saying the man is blameless, and if you check my posts you'll know I've gone from being a big fan to undecided. But we had a cracking start to last season, and a ****e finish. We could well have a ****e start to this finish and a cracking finish, and come in a strong 8th, 9th or 10th. Which I think we both agree wouldn't be too sad..

Mate we all want the players to put a shift in and progress in the league and the cups I totally agree. My only point was that these things take time, and I think Bruce has had a lot of stick when the club has made progress. We're all fans and we've all got the same dreams and goals for the club. But success breeds expectation and I just don't want us to be a club who gets impatient. There's too much talk of a 'crisis' when really, its just 'not a very good start'.

Manageordie- none taken mate, we're all allowed to have different opinions! lol. That's exactly what I want as well but I just don't think Bruce is completely washed out, and I don't think we're in a crisis or anything. If it carries on till Christmas then yes, I agree, then we might be in one..

Maddison - if we had deserved to finish 15th, we would have finished 15th. If we played crap and won the FA Cup, we would still have won the FA Cup. And Bruce has taken us backwards? Really? Because he scraped 10th on the last day? If he had taken us backwards after Sbragia then we wouldn't be in this league.

the money has been spent and we havent replaced our stars we need a few big names in our team and that means spend more money <bubbly>
