So disgusting taunts are acceptable towards a player when he doesn't play for your team
he he you have to admit it is funny thoughit is just a joke because he sign lots of kids ..but agree is wrong.. meanwhile there is a difference, if you call somone gay or ***** when he is not, is just teasing him .. but if he is one, then it become discrimination which is different.. this is why racial remarks is not a joke, it is a racial abuse..that is a different level of abuse ..

I think there is some degree of difference between all above 3 levels of abuses player/managers get during the game, yes all are bad, but some are worst than other.

Harry is very selective in what he chooses to criticise.

Seems par for the course on a board that one had hoped would escape the lesser style prevalent on the old 606. Perhaps it's just the nature of the beast and the tribal character of some supporters associated with the game. One would have thought that having moderators on this board would help pave the way for an environment more conducive to reasonable and civilised discussion.
Well, we don't want to create another BBC 606 with over handed moderation.
We're all grown up's on here (well most of us) so we don't want to molly coddle people.
Swearing is fine, sometimes it's necessary to get your point across.
But the endless little spats and tit for tat nonsense is just tiresome
and doesn't add anything to the debate.

Enmities between football teams now is at a ridiculous level , players are seen no longer as people but just things that can be despised and spat at.
As an example i was watching the game yesterday and one of our players was taking a corner.
The fans behind him were hurling abuse at him , and this is considered normal and perfectly fine behavior for an afternoon of sporting diversion.
Another example is when we played spurs a good while back and Pires goes to retrieve the ball from the crowd .
Instead of handing the ball to him the boy throws the ball AT him , to raucous applause from the locals.
Did the boys father bring him up to do such things outside of the ground too ?
It may sound like its not very serious but its the zero tolerance syndrome. Its a small step , if not admonished , from throwing things at people to verbally and racially abusing them .
Where has all the sportsmanship and common decency gone from the game and indeed society.
I fear we have degenerated so far we can never come back to a culture of , if not respect then at least decency.

Well Mr Ballright I was at a match many moons ago, pre the era of the space shuttle which I may add is now history too when Graham Rix was being heckled by one of our own supporters each and everytime he came by or was taking a throw-in. It may have been a Div 1 home match with Norwich. The football supporter can be a most emotional and disruptive creature. One can only hope this DNA is not passed on 
The reason i started this thread is because what i see as Redknapp's hypocrisy.He is disgusted about Adebayor being taunted with disgusting chants now he is a Tottenham player but chose to ignore racist chants towards Adebayor by Tottenham fans before he was a Tottenham player

Redknapp has consistently condemned abuse of players by fans.
You can criticise him for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them.

It might be my view of the sport since I am not as it were a ' cradle football supporter ' but rather came into it while I was at university. While I appreciate that rivalries are part of the culture of local derbies, I just felt that this tit for tat approach did little to promote the spirit of sport, in fact quite the opposite and the way to go ought to be in the manner by which the two teams had issued a joint statement today. In fact Spurs have gone one stage further in vowing to ban fans guilty of offensive chanting.
