Im not his greatest fan but he seems to make some decent points. He hasn’t suggested who plays RB tomorrow night though!

(OS - the general championship thread has in past few days become a coat hanger for a general conversation about the present City situation so up to you if you want to have a one time thread on this - as it’s likely to be an ongoing topic as the season develops?)

Decent point Nin.

If anyone else sees the merit in having a season long "general CCFC situation" thread as opposed to specific comments about our club being made on the more general "Chamionship Watch" thread, then post your thoughts on here and we'll give it a go. <ok>

We have the matchday threads for for comments on individual games but they lack any sort of continuity.

Sounds like a plan and make it a sticky. Championship Watch covers not just us but the whole division, so I think having our own club thread as others do is a good idea.

Might need to explain in the setting up comment for the hard of reading. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

What has Reading got to do with it?<whistle>

I didn't know Masky was from there........<laugh>

Nin, you wrote....Im not his greatest fan but he seems to make some decent points. He hasn’t suggested who plays RB tomorrow night though!

After reading it right through, it looks like he's been swatting at least 2 nights from his old Roy of the Rover comics. <laugh><laugh>

So if Bacuna comes back into central midfield- if our midfield is to have some bite and energy (so long as he cuts out blind sideways passes <doh>) - then who plays right back?

Nelson with Bamba at the back with Morrison? Bennett - even though his right foot is a strange concept to him - but Harris has often played players out of position?

Anybody got any bright ideas<whistle>

Other than your point of Bennett to rb then Bagan at lb with Bacuna in midfield - nope.

If my memory is correct it didn't work out so well last time we tried Nelson at full back. Also how fit is Sol for a whole game?

Some points from tonight.
Barnsley’s set up allowed Bacuna to play a more attacking role so he wasn’t vulnerable like he was at QPR. That was tonight though, he’ll struggle against an attacking winger.

So if Tomlin is fit he has to play - agree? If so he has to play at 10 with Wilson out left. And that leaves Glatzel out as you’ll need Pack and Ralls in midfield, and definitely not Vaulks.

Hoilett had his best game for a while.

Tomlin injured again <doh>

This emphasises just how important it will be to keep Wilson fit. There will be a 2 week international break after Friday but Wilson could be involved in 3 games for Wales. We have to hope both he and Moore (who slowed right up late on last night) are used as sparingly as possible.

Tomlin appears to be becoming a regular sick note and can't be relied upon to any great extent. Can Ojo play the no. 10 role? The jury is still out on that. Hoilett has the skill and vision to do it but then we lose what he brings in both attacking and defensive roles out wide.

Whoever does it just cannot be Ralls. He showed how effective he was in his natural position last night.

Agreed - everyone except Bacuna was in their correct positions and it showed. Bennett and Hoilett on the left were outstanding.

Vaulks instead of Ralls at the end was a reasonable decision. I don't ever want to see them on the pitch at the same time again - it just doesn't work.

It makes a difference when a square peg is in a square hole.
No issue when there is one player out of position, you can hide it most of the time with the other players compensating. 2 or 3........

Its the same when the team is flooded with fringe players / youngsters for a cup game. Unfair on the individuals. One or two with an established team around them is fine but too many and its the blind leading the blind.

So, is 442 the new plan A?

Wish they'd give some of the subs more than a minute or 2, especially when 2 or 3 up.

It worked last night as Barnsley didn’t offer much threat so Pack & Ralls were able to dominate the game. How it will fare against teams who have more midfield threat is to be seen for then P&R will need more support from the wide men, which wasn’t necessary last night hence the rare sight of Bennett and Bacuna getting forward so often.

Having Moore and Glatzel up top also gave their defence more to think about and stopped their centre defenders pushing forward.

Add an on form Hoilett and Wilson to the mix and they weren't sure if they were coming or going. That also gave P & R more time and space. Trouble is the formation won't be a surprise going forward so it will be interesting to see how the Wurzels deal with it - or not.

Harris has to wrap Wilson in cotton wool and spoon feed him fluids only to ensure he stays fit. He is our best loaner since Koumas and Bellers.

Think Glen’s wide of the mark with this; can anyone recall him tearing up the PL<doh>

Does he mean "tearing" as in ripping up?

Or "tearing" as in needing some Kleenex to mop his wet eyes?

Glen should have a checker to read his articles before publishing. He needs someone to rein in his poetic licence.
