    Not quite.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.he...any-people-die-of-the-flu-every-year?amp=true

They don't count all of them but even 50,000 (US) is no water pistol and this is with a flu jab. Imagine the toll if it was reportable and there was no jab? I think it could be very comparable to Coronavirus.

Nah we didn't watch the tv we listened to Janette, our Chief Health Officer. She has guided our states response to this Pandemic and so far so good. 6 people out of about a 5 million population have unfortunately died, we are living life pretty much as normal and we have 5 people, all in quarantine, who are known to have the virus. Do the right thing at the right time and it can be controlled but 30 days of lockdown isn't going to do it. Melbourne is the only part of Australia that had what could be classed as a second wave and it took them about 3 months of lockdown to get it under control and that was a proper lockdown, curfew and compulsory mask wearing.

so thats out of a us population vastly bigger than ours.would our whole country not fit in Texas ?.so 67 million of us crammed on a tiny island means the virus has every chance of killing a lot more of us.this covid 19 is the worst since the spanish flu and infects very easily .

I can see this from both sides. This is a highly contagious disease and even though the good majority have been following the rules as in most things the minority spoil it for the rest, those that think they're invincible, even those that don't believe it is a thing, carrying on as normal, I've witnessed hugs handshakes all kinds of embraces, outside schools, pubs, supermarkets the lot, absolute madness.

On the other hand I can fully see where Blono is coming from with the elderly, my father in law is 79 and as always been a sociable bloke enjoys the pub, during all this he has become ill, he can't swallow his food and can only take sips of fluids, it's taken its toll on him, having test after test, they've found an hernia but nothing that should be causing the discomfort he's experiencing, anyway after another hospital appointment he was telling my wife that he doesn't know how much longer he could cope with the fact he can't go out, he said if it wasn't for the problems he's having, he'd have took his chances of contacting it, it's a better alternative to what he's going through having to stay in.

I don't go out and live on my own. Not whineing about being single as it was my choice anyway. So i understand what it is like being alone and have started work again at the age of 66.had a couple of months off and could not stand it.
I can well understand people having mental problems and indeed committing suicide.

You have to remember, for everyone who says we need a lockdown there is another saying we need to keep everything open.

Not sure they are having it so bad, in the main, a few may have it bad, but most Doctors, Dentists have been as good as shut for the last 7-8 months here.

Went to the Dentist on Tuesday they have nice cards placed on the chairs in the waiting area, with the green ticks and red crosses telling you where you can sit. Flip it over to red after you've sat on it then they get the boys in the suits come round and spray it all down.

Have to put some solution in your mouth for 30 seconds before they carry out any work too, apparently kills off the corona so it's all nice and safe.

The more densely populated an area is the more chance of any airborne virus spreading. Australia is a huge country with a small population so transmission, especially widespread transmission is much easier to control. There are 4m more people in London than in Queensland.
It's not comparing like for like.
The figures were the first to come up on my google search and were only until April. It was pointless searching further because flu deaths are not recorded so we don't know how many died.
