We don't usually travel north very well (this improved last season) and this will be Newcastles first real test against one of the top sides.

Spurs will be oozing confidence after making liverpool look like a div1 team and winning the NLD but we wont be in for an easy ride at a ground we usually struggle at against a team in good form.

Tiote worries me as he was flying in all over the place last season at WHL - god knows how he didn't get sent off

I thought Ba looked good at West Ham and is more of a threat then Carroll at the moment <laugh>

Ben Arfa has bags of potential and looks a quality player!

No offence mate, but absolutely no one cares about your opinion. Surely you can't be that arrogant to believe that us Newcastle players are grovelling for approval from an almighty Spurs supporter? <doh>

We're just setting you straight on a number of points, being Newcastle fans who watch these players week-in, week-out. You can take our opinions or dismiss them, but rest assured that I seek absolutely no approval from you whatsoever. In fact, considering your clear lack of knowledge about our team, you appear to have the least credible viewpoint out of everyone here.

If you're going to make such bold claims as "we will beat you easily" and "Spurs fans will be expecting to win this" then at least have the dignity to learn more than a modicum of knowledge about our players and squad. It's arrogant and disrespectful to do anything otherwise.

Tiote (finally) seems to have calmed himself down a bit. I think him and the coaching staff have been working on that over pre-season.

Spurs are oozing confidence and Newcastle are oozing confidence as well after our great starts to the season, so that alone should provide a good match. I'm just glad we have the home advantage. Rest assured that I wouldn't be so confident of a result if it was Newcastle travelling to WHL, but we're playing great football at SJP at the moment, and as you've said, Spurs don't tent to travel well up north.

well i was at least expecting some sort of strategy break down similar to that posted by pleasenotpoll to enforce his argument. a bit of stimulating debate not just a waft of the hands and a complete dismissal. something along the lines of "lennon will likely murder ryan taylor down the right which in turn will likely see gutierez having to drop very deep. therefore nulifying his effectiveness going forward..."

    In my opinion.

I hope liverpool having been watching Ba the last few games they might offer us a small fortune for him. as for tiote he has cleaned his act up a bit but he's always just a second away from walking. Ryan taylor will really struggle against lennon. SWP was turning him inside out the other week and i expect lennon to be even worse.

After Steven taylors lucky penalty escape the other day he better be vary weary of bale in the box as he's gonna be running into the area all day as simpson is gonna be having fits against bales direct attacking.

I think you've been overly sensitive if you look back at what he actually said. This wasn't neccesarily an opportunity for him to talk about how Spurs would go about beating you, it's all down to interperetation and he answered your question frankly.

I'm inclined to agree with him too. I don't see any one player as a main threat but you're a side doing very well and you have a history of making life difficult for us.

"Lennon will murder Ryan Taylor" is yet another sad example of social and racial stereotyping.

Lennon seems a thoroughly decent chap, who is unlikely to jeopardise his international prospects, let alone his liberty, by killing another human being.

Well i suppose my quest for a bit of banter has fallen short anyways. maybe i was a tad defensive but as i mentioned earlier i was hoping for some kind of craic. unfortunately that response isn't likely to lead to much to-ing and fro-ing about on pitch battles etc. bit of a conversation killer really.

Well you obviously don't like trespassers so i'll head back to my own board and I assure you this wasn't an attempt at being a WUM. i think i'm a little old (although apparently over sensitive) for that kind of thing.

The danger men at Newcastle are the deluded fans who think that they are bigger than they are and, as soon as this run is over, will deride Pardew and Ashley as "cockneys who don't understand how great a club Newcastle United is" while calling for the return of Shearer/Keegan. (delete as applicable.)

I've always heard that some Spurs fans are arrogant egotistical ****s but I've never seen one in the flesh before until now. What an interesting little critter.

At the risk of sounding over sensitive...

if you had a clue you'd realise that most newcastle fans treat that sort of 'fan' like a pariah round these parts as its those very muppets that have earmed our supporters a reputation for such outbursts with their two minutes of fame when they've been cornered outside St. James Park and had a mic shoved in their faces during work hours walking their 3 legged jack russell called keegan on their way to the dole office. sadly as thats pretty much the only north east coverage you're likely to see down there leading you to actually believe the **** they spout.

Not arrogant, just speak as I find. Thats odd, I've heard you were deluded bunch of small-time idiots (nothing interesting about you at all) you are. See how you get on after the run ends fella. Nice turn of phrase by the way. Real classy. <ok>

  15. Oh, really? Then why did Pipe4life ask me which of your players I thought is the biggest threat?

If you're not interested in listening to the opinions of Spurs fans to a question on the Spurs board that asks Spurs fans what their opinion is on that question, then what the hell are you doing here? Unless you really are as stupid as you seem to be?

If you don't care about the opinion of Spurs fans to a question put to them by someone, on the Spurs board, then I suggest you get lost and stop wasting everyone's time <ok>

It's the impression I've had of Newcastle fans too. Fair enough if it's not the case but all we heard down here when you got Keegan or Shearer in was how the "messiah" was back to lead you to glory. That aside, I've only been to a Spurs game at SJP once but I have a lot of time for your fans, they're truly dedicated to the side no matter what <ok>

  17. I would have believed that if, instead of asking the question "which of our players are the danger men for you?" you had asked "do you think there are any players in our squad who can hurt you?"

Provided, of course, you were mature enough to accept the answer "none."

Instead, you ask a question that presumes you have players that we consider, by themselves can hurt us, and then dish out the insults when we express our opinions.

Either you were setting out to wind us up, or you are too juvenile to accept the cut and thrust of adult debate. Which is it?

  19. The point is this.

We could get beaten by any team, but that does not mean that we should be beaten.

Ergo, we could get beaten by the Toon, but we shouldn't get beaten by them. There is no one in their squad that I particularly fear, although I do not doubt that the whole of their team is better than the sum of the various parts.

Other Spurs fans may disagree with that assessment to a lesser or greater extent, but that is my opinion.

Why is it that I seem to be plagued by the over-sensitive juvenile muppets from other teams? If it's not the Scousers, it's the Gooners, and now that they seem to have reached an uneasy peace with me, it's the sodding Geordies!

Truth is spurs have only recently changed form against the smashings we always gave them . ONly recently have they limped to wins against us nothing special , I will give them their duses, the talented fellow welshman is a threat, but to be honest im expecting a win here.

    Head-to-head

    • Tottenham's 1-0 win against Newcastle at White Hart Lane in April 2009 ended a run of six consecutive league victories for the Magpies in this fixture. Newcastle scored a total of 18 goals in that six-game run.
