Been doing them for years mate, make own base gravy and freeze it, got a mega spice rack. Just like to try some of these weird supermarket offerings occasionally.

Pretty straightforward, tomatoes, onions (lots) carrot, red pepper. Coriander, garam masala, cumin and a small amount of chilli powder. I cook all veg long and slow, skimming off the crap about three or four times, add spices when gravy has thickened, I then blend it all. Keep back what I need, freeze the rest.Share your base gravy recipe please, I’m curious to see how different it is to mine?![]()
Will do mate no probs. Probably sometime next week.Get them pics up next time you got the Pot on
Started off with a similar deal but have altered it a lot to suit my taste. It’s something that’s always evolving. Atm I start with 5kilos of onions, half a cabbage, two small potatoes, half a red pepper, one carrot, half a small Thai pumpkin, a bunch of fresh coriander leaf roots n all, ginger garlic paste, tin of tomatoes 5 dried red chilli’s, cinnamon stick, star anise, curry powder, half a small tin of carnation milk, Tumeric, salt, black peppercorns.Pretty straightforward, tomatoes, onions (lots) carrot, red pepper. Yeah, sometimes it's a case of experimenting. Sometimes I'll use curry leaf, sometimes bay. Never used star anise, but I'll be trying that, as that flavour should be an excellent accompaniment in the gravy.Started off with a similar deal but have altered it a lot to suit my taste. Not a great photo and I didn't cook it but, kudos to my ball and chain as this was delicious.

Made a beef and guiness one once, pie day at work. You put grated cheddar under crust before baking - copied a friends recipe. My daughter's blankey. I moved it before I sat down.
There were mini roast new spuds too, could easily have eaten it again. The Cotes Du Rhone didn't last long either!

Sounds bonkers, but it works.

Looks good, lovely comfort food for this time of year. I'm the same as PJS sold on the pastry.
Was expecting it to be a blue cheese, not cheddar.

The plate, the table, the wine...superbly glazed pastry.
10/10 perfection![]()
Was asparagus a thing in the 70's?
Anyway, you're right in that it was almost perfect but I'd never give her a 10 so I'd say it was 8/10.
Counterpoint tonight, am staying away and, being in firebreak land, there are no pubs to go and have some decent food at.
Options for takeaway are; KFC, Burger King, McShit, Pizza Hut and Nando's. All five minutes away.
Leaning towards Nandos.

Can't stand Nandos.Surely Nandos is the clear winner here?
