Match Preview;
Preston go into this game having lost at home, 0-1, to Cardiff on Sunday. Ever the optimist, this means they are both low on confidence after a defeat, plus they'll have had a day less to rest/prepare for Wednesday night. In this odd year, when players didn't have as long a summer break as usual, just how important will an extra day between matches prove to be? I hope it could make a difference.

Preston are only 2 points behind us, having won 1, drawn 1 and lost 3. We have now won 1, drawn 3 and lost 1. We have both scored 6 so far this year, with their main threat coming from Scott Sinclair, so he is the one to watch out for. Sinclair seems to have struck up a good partnership with Tom Barkhuizen, who is leading their stats for assists this year. Seems our back 4/5 are going to have to be on form on Wednesday evening.

As for us, many on here, myself included, were pleased with both the point on Saturday, but also the intensity with which we played, and also the fact we managed to keep a clean sheet. Something to build on, and as we can gradually induct the new players and give the team time to gel, I reckon we could do a bit better than first hoped this year. Can't help but notice that we have only scored 2 in our last 3 games, and having bought in a few different attacking options towards the end of the transfer window, this is obviously an area Warburton is hoping to improve in.

I'll add team news when it goes on the official, enjoy those who will be watching, and as always...come on you super hoopsa!

Saw the last few minutes of PNE's game at the w.e. Stockley looked a bit of a threat, Pearson was limping, perhaps out for Wednesday? We may have a few out -Amos, Dykes?, BOS?, Thomas?

All three homes games have been similiar away side score first then sit back play cards smoke cigars as we run out of ideas early doors, the defeat against Stoke was slightly unlucky we had a player sent off wrongly after about 25 minutes when we were well on top.
Away we seem to be better although not watched any of the away games.
Also put home form down to lack of spectators.
Pearson usually top man but off the pace out of contract next summer as are another 16 it's a bit of a mess but we are only five games in doom and panic not quite yet, but pressure is building.
You were the last side we played before we all got locked out personal view watching games without fans is a nightmare and it's just a chore at the moment.

Due to our weak midfield now being further weakened is it time for good old 4-4-2, or can Carroll play and last 90mins in Amos role?

Just play Chair there and actually attack like a home team in a winnable home game. Given Cameron has to play or he’ll leak the sensitive documents of Warburton I’d stick with Ball alongside him who is our only midfielder who can do a bit of everything albeit not doing anything particularly well. Two proper wide players, Chair and Dykes.

Willock?

I think it has been a long time, a way back last season, since Chair has played well. Mostly he's been poor but Warburton has persevered with him. I don't see him doing better anywhere in attacking midfield now and think its time he was rested / benched, and look at playing him further back in midfield as a link between defense and midfield, about where Ball played at Bournemouth, in the future.

I'd like to see BOS wide left and Adomah wide right with Carroll, Willock or Bettache maybe given a go in central attacking midfield, either in a 4 2 3 1 or in the 5 in a 3 5 2. Carroll the most likely I guess, but then I haven't seen much of the other 2.

Given that Amos was the box to box player against Bournemouth I'd put wilock in that role. Also is BOS fit after his knock on Saturday?

Along the lines off
Dieng
Kakay Barbet Dickie Wallace
Ball Cameron
BOS/Albert wilock chair
Dykes

Or

Same back 5
Ball
BOS/Albert chair wilock Bonne
Dykes

In a 4141

Off course probably both wrong....

I like your first choice.
I'd play BOS, Willock and Albert behind Dykes.
