I prefer gobshite to marmite.

I hate the stuff.

I wandered into the kitchen last Sunday while the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov was preparing our lunch only to witness in horror as she put a spoonful of the horrid stuff in the gravy.

I said "I'll never be able to eat that" to which she said "You have been for years".

How can I trust her again?

It is a wonderful addition to a gravy or sauce for some depth. You don’t taste it as marmite.

Ask her to spread it over a chicken just before roasting!

It's my 'secret' addition to my mum's traditional bolognese.

To Marmite or not to Marmite? That is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer Marmite in gravy or suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Or to take arms against a sea of Marmite, And, by opposing, end it's addition? The idea of whether is it better to eat or to cry.

Marmite. It almost cured my wife of her habit of taking a bite out of my sandwich, when I wasn’t looking.
The look on her face, when she realised what it was, was priceless. <laugh>
She checks before she bites now.

Personally I love Marmite, although I have taken to buying Meridian yeast extract these days, which tastes every bit as good.

By the way, I may be one of the few people who have successfully smuggled Marmite into Norway, where it isn't available.

Your not alone there Chilcs, 30 odd years ago I had a two year family contract in Oslo which included shipping. I went to the nearest Tesco superstore and spent £1200 on food and household goods. Plenty Marmite, HP sauce, mustard, horseradish and pickled onions. Oh beer kits to, our BBQs were a hot ticket.

I used to take into Sweden when I lived there, but I couldn’t get my local friends to take to it. And yet they eat rotten herring from a tin (sürströmming) which is so unbelievably awful it makes me feel ill just thinking about it. Different tastes, eh? :emoticon-0103-cool:

Yet another tale of a new business, with no experience in the field of industry, but with links to the Tories, receiving a multi million pound contract from the government. The company was only set up 44 days ago and received the money without other companies tendering.
Thinking ahead, how many of these millions, being siphoned out of public money, will be returned to the Tory party by means of a political donation?
Total corruption.

“Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat the bacon“

George Harrison 1968.
