So I used to use Pirate Bay and going further back Napster, anything where you can download for free. One day I get a letter from Sky saying they have lost a court case and have given my details to a company who allege that I've downloaded their property (some **** film with Robert Redford in) that company will be in touch. Big thick legal looking envelope arrives saying they want money or will take me to court. Looked into it and found a top website giving advice. Sent the letter back with a polite more saying "no thanks not interested" and that was the last I heard. It was enough stress for me to stop illegal downloads.
No it's pretty standard stuff in the US and they thought they'd chance their arm over here and failed.
I also had same letter...... The company we keep was the film....... Looks all legit and comes with a lot of threats. I had two letters and ignored both...... Found out later that this lot are fraudsters they are simply speculative invoicers..... Lord lucas asked the government to take out this fraud risk but they done fk all about it and people will continue to be robbed of money based on extreme fear of spiralling costs...... Shame on sky for giving customers details based on a shameful letter giving by fake courts who cash in from producing the stamp of authority. Sky.. the courts and fraudsters all fking over joe public for profit.
Well it would be interesting if you received one without knowing legal standing......first letter is asking for a small fee possibly under 8thousand pound...... Next letter you get shows figures that you were part of a swarm of thousands of people around the globe which takes it into the hundreds of thousands of pounds. I remember an old woman received the same letter as me and luv and case was dropped but fraudsters didn't get arrested. I was on a forum set up for anyone involved with this new legal crime against the public and they were fking brilliant legal minds. So morals of this story is if you receive such letter chuck it in the bin and forget about it
I’m surprised it got this fair...if someone done that to me I’d have a chuckle to myself...downloaded a few more movies and chucked letter in bin without reading it
Im not so sure you would be so confident at the start of it once said letter had been received............ Anyway citizens advice was a waste of time.... They would have tucked you up with bad information in which you have been admitting guilt. Luckily there are good legal heads out there who like to fight the real crime organisations to put your mind at rest.
I'm totally legit nowadays, Netflix and Sky. It's not like I'm struggling for things to watch. Netflix is cheap as **** for what you get.
