Apparently about to sign his new contract and come back on a clean slate. How do we feel about this? Not been massively impressed with him so far on admittedly very fleating glimpses, but can only be a good thing if Parkinson is happy with his character.
I feel pretty good about it, I don't love Parky but I do trust him not to give contracts to young players who aren't worth it. If Parky thinks he's up to it then that's good enough for me the man's no fool. Added to which he is the type of forward we need to complement what we've already got.
I'm guessing no other club wants to offer him a contract and pay us the compensation we'd be due so Kimpi hasn't got too much of a choice imo. He can either sign with us or sign at the dole. Having said that, hope it goes well for him and he can make an impact in our promotion glory charge.
Wish I had your faith mate, and hope at least, he is worthy of his contract, I have serious misgivings about the other three "strikers".
Me and you both mate, hopefully they'll get enough between them to take us up. I don't have a huge amount of faith in Parky but he seems a no nonsense sort and the way he booted McGeady into touch when he realised he was a bad influence made me think he wouldn't sign Kimpioka on if he wasn't prepared to graft.
Can't really blame the lad for trying to get himself the best deal possible, especially when it seems he was just randomly dropped from the squad after getting a few chances and grabbing a goal. That being said he's not great so I'm not surprised he hasn't got any better offers. There must be a player in there, but he needs to knuckle down now and get on with it if he wants a career. Still, he offers something a bit different so, from the bench initially, I'm happy if he comes back into the fold
Unpredictability too, every defender in the league knows what to expect from Wykey, Griggy and Grahamy but throw Kimpi on unexpectedly and they won't know a thing about him, might cause a bit of chaos late on. As you say he has pace so if nothing else he can stretch the play and open up a chance for the others that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Agree. We need a couple of other young lads on the bench too to give us options of some pace and creativity.
This. You just need to look at the bench against Bristol Rovers. Scowen and Leadbitter, Wyke and Graham. So similar, what's the point in having both of those midfielders and both of those strikers? At least if you have Kimpioka you've got something that they won't be used to dealing with. Pace, a form of trickery (even if he often doesn't look like he knows what he's doing!). He can play up front, he can play wider. If we have a game where Graham isn't having an impact I'd rather fling Benji on than Wyke, at least he's different.
