Carlo Ancelotti has joked that seeing Thiago Alcantara join Liverpool "breaks my heart" as he tells the midfielder he has chosen the wrong team on Merseyside.
Liverpool earlier today confirmed the signing of the 29-year-old midfielder who played under Ancelotti at Bayern Munich.

Ancelotti described Thiago as a "fantastic player" but joked with the Spanish international he "chose the wrong team" in the city.

Incredible business by the club. We’re effectively paying £10m for two players in the first 12 months. Hopefully after this, football economics becomes more stable!

Yeah but your going to need more cover next year because players get older. Are you going to buy more "on tick" and how long can it go on?

Phased payments have been around in football for an age. This is just a particularly good deal for us....sorry that you don’t like it <laugh>

In the lead up your folks keep telling you that they couldnt get you what you wanted, you need to be really good and wish really hard and see what happens, then on the day all your presents are there and it turns out he's a lying bastard and has been stringing you along all this time.

I was fairly impressed with hoever when he played, looked more than capable for an 18 year old. But we do seem to have a very good crop of defenders coming through. If hoever is the worst of them we are in good stead.
