    Oh ... one last thing...
3 parents and 4 kids (from 2 or more families) could not play after school at one house or on the common because it is deemed illegal...but they can all go to a local playground / swing park ... which is exactly what happened today after school across the road from my school and another one near where I live.
It really was not thought through.

I worry that we're instilling too much fear into this generation coming up. I get it that precautions are needed. But there has to be a balance in there. Kids need interaction, they need to play and they need to feel that the adults around them are going to provide a safe environment for them. At the moment, they see a lot of fear and anxiety around them, and adults having petty arguments about 'the rules'

When we were in full lockdown. My old dear was in pieces that she couldn't see my daughter. She'd just lost her husband and suddenly her world was one of complete isolation. In the end, I had to **** the rules off and go round with my little un' and see her. She said that she would rather get the virus and pop her clogs than never be able to see her grandaughter. That kind of summed it up for me.

I dont want kids wearing masks either but I don't see why they're included in the group of 6... and even then why any number of them can go into a supermarket or school.

Funny thing is it's an arbitraty number anyway. It could be 4, could be 10.

Don't know mate, my kids have all grown up, so I don't have school problems, thankfully that world is in the past. If the kids are off school, I hibernate until they go back <laugh>

Don't get me wrong...I think masks would cause a lot of very unnecessary problems in primary schools.
But vulnerable staff need to know what risks they are actually taking.
I walk between 6 and 8 miles a day to keep healthy and am normally well (only had 1 day off sick in past 18 months) so am not worried for me.
But for example, a 25 yr old colleague lives with her grandfather who is vulnerable so she needs to know if the risk has changed.

I get mistakes will be made but if you can look at a policy/law/plan and see the obvious holes in it thrn it is not a very good plan.

The government are not listening and as a result are constantly screwing up which is leading to confusion, mistrust and scepticism ... I think questioning authority is healthy if based rational logic. My fear is that many will either call it all a hoax or demand another total lockdown. In my view neither of those things is healthy for individuals or society as a whole.

I think they’re panicking tbh. As the R rate is rising exponentially in some areas, just as we’re on the cusp of hitting Autumn and when the annual flu season starts because people spend more time inside in less ventilated spaces, as windows / doors are closed etc.

If they don’t get a grip of it now, then we could be back to where we were in March within a couple of months. The messages have been so muddled and contradictory that people are largely just writing **** on it now imo. It’s a real concern for me tbh. As there’s no ****ing way I want to be back isolating again given I’m on the vulnerable list ffs.

In other news my friends mother (50's) was diagnosed with terminal cancer today. Would have much more of a fighting chance had it been discovered in March as it should have been.

Be careful, Priti Patel says she'll call the cops on any non-Tory she spots breaking the law

Apparently chip and PIN machines emits a specific kind of radiation that immobilises the coronavirus. So if you're paying to be somewhere you're safe <ok>

You are absolutely right. The radiation apparently stuns the virus for 2.3 nanoseconds and then it is really pissed off when it wakes up.

Will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks as both infections and hospitalisations are up. There is some emerging evidence that treatment for Covid is having better outcomes, so hopefully the death rate won't follow. But as you say, we're on the cusp of flu season so services are going to be stretched anyway. I suppose though, that with less people in offices/ workplaces, along with practically everybody practising really stringent hygiene with hand washing, masks and santiser, we might not see the same levels of flu as previous years.
