After the first goal went in, you could see the game opening up
with WH trying to press forward and leaving massive gaps at the back
Almiron should of been brought on about 20mins before he did get on to really go at their defence
In the end Bruce can say he got it right on the night
but at times I thought we were hanging to far back and inviting them to attack us

I felt like the side got an instruction from the sideline to sit back after we scored.. I personally think that's managers trying to influence the game too much, but at the end of the day it worked, so I can't criticise.. I do feel it's a risky thing to do in general because if they do score all of sudden you lose momentum and its not uncommon you end you conceding another. I think if you're in control just keep going until you get the 2nd.

Anyway Bruce is the messiah so I yield to his tactical genius.

Building up a decent little team.

I remember a couple of years back it was said Ashley wanted to buy one or two big players per year instead of the old way of buying a load of cheap players & it’s starting to look like it’s half way starting to pay off. The squad looks the best it has in a long time. British core too.

I was thinking this. We had a pretty decent team on the pitch and our bench was pretty strong with Ritchie, Longstaff, Miggy and Fraser etc...Gayle, Schar, Dummet and Matty Longstaff unavailable as well. Not sure we're done in the window just yet either but even if we are we're in a stronger position than we started last season.

So close, but you inexplicably put the word “Gayle” in there. All that bloke does is reduce us to Champ level.

What we’re missing is a couple of decent young talents like Matty. Certainly up front we need a young player with potential.

Apparently scouser complained to PL so they have adjusted the table again.

I see masters helped his beloved villa by getting their 1st game away at City postponed..

No doubt he'll fiddle goal line tech to save them again if he has to

I know we’ve had it rough but imagine being a West Ham fan this season?!

Also looks like Fulham are going to be this years Norwich. Tim Ream and that Jason Lee lookalike in defence, ffs.

West hams owners have been bad in a totally different way to Ashley... They've spent loads, but spent badly. It's amazing how fast the media etc is jumping to oh poor West ham and criticising their owners. I bet the West ham fans would love hearing the pundits telling them they're a yo yo club, doing well to stay in the premier league and that they have unrealistic expectations every ****ing week for 13 years.

Massive element of that. At one stage I was screaming for them to move up. They couldn't because the two central lads were completely gassed, as were the two up top. ASM had had enough. I'm not saying he shirked it, but I think the kickings took their toll on his vibrance in the end. Bruce had 5 players out on their feet, had he brought on fresh legs earlier in Joelinton, Longstaff and Almiron, I think we'd have kicked on and picked up a couple more goals than we did. As you say Bruce will think he deserves credit for the timing of his subs, I think he nearly threw away two points.

On another day with a different ref West ham couple seem two yellows to Frederick's and soucek

Bruce really needs to improve with his squad management and substitutions. As others have said, on another day we could have drawn that game or even lost it with dropping too deep. Keeping players on so late in games and having them out on their feet will inevitably lead to injuries as the season progresses. So not good signs on that front... It appears he hasn't learnt anything from last season.

Plenty of decisions for both sides questionable. Carroll could easily have seen red after 30 seconds, you just can't do that now.

Yeah Carroll will get sent off eventually, but that not really the point I'm making.. The targeting and fouling of max was allowed to happen for 50 plus minutes.. It was glaringly obvious disgusting tactic the ref was clueless to identify...

For once I think his subs worked out very well, but Jonjo was struggling after 70 mins... I agree Bruce does run key players into the ground, so hopefully with the options he has he can address that area of his management.
