What threats were made and by whom? Any direct quotes regarding these? I genuinely ask mate as I've not seen any.

Read my previous posts with Raving. It is reported that Barnier threatened to ban exports from the UK to NI. That is serious, if true. It is also possible he acted in bad faith over threats to impose tariffs on such goods. This may come out in due course, when the bill goes before Parliament

So we are basing it on alleged reports then? Right you are. Is this why Boris suddenly doesnt like the deal he expertly negotiated and signed on our behalf?

Boris says he is acting in the face of EU/Barnier's bad faith re the flow of goods within the UK. Let's wait to hear the entire evidence before we judge finally

We've seen what Goldy's evidence threshold is - some reported comments from an unnamed source in a newspaper, which justified breaking international law.

I've heard Goldy was also advising the Blair Government in the early 2000s.

So why was the agreement signed? If the government are going to breach it only months later? Seems a very dishonest and underhanded approach

If it's reported in a national newspaper among others, it doesn't make it true, but you can't just disregard it either.

I wouldn't go near Blair, believe me

Have the EU breached the agreement or said they will? Did they make these alleged threats in reaction to nothing from the UK? Seem's odd, if and a big if, threats were made surely that would be in the wake of the UK stating they were going to breach a signed agreement, if this is the case it's clear who the agitator is here.

It's a power grab by Johnson and co. This is whole heartedly a Tory mess from start to finish! They really do need to get rid of Johnson and his minions, put someone who actually gives a **** about us in charge!

Why get so personal just because someone has a different view to you?

Because he's taken a position which at the least deserves the light mockery I've given. I'm sure he's big enough to take some light piss taking, he wouldn't want to be accused of being a snowflake.

In the same way it would be OTT for anyone to be overly annoyed at you describing people who take a different view to you as "useful idiots".

I don't remember writing that, but hey, whatever.
It seems to be a remainer thing where you get so angry and condescending with anyone with an opposing view.
Anyway, football tomorrow!

It was either you or Goldhawk, apols if it was him and not you, but the point stands that it goes both ways. I don't find that I get angry reading these posts, but will admit to happily to condescension at times, which I have no regrets about when it's directed to those in complete denial of facts.

Anyway, as you say, football tomorrow, and I still need to finalise the fantasy football draft.

Comparing the different Government responses, I have been impressed with what I have seen in France. The restrictions were bought in early and were very strictly enforced. Fines were given if you broke lock down and people took notice. Afraid we are now reaping the reward as things are going back to normal, but masks are still required in all public places, and they are worn.

As I have said before, I was shocked in the summer when on holiday in the UK, seeing how many people just didn't bother with masks or socially distancing. Johnson and his Government have not done a good job of keeping the rules clear and consistent...not allowing people to gather in each other's homes whilst allowing pubs and cafes to open seems crazy. Perhaps if people had clearer and more consistent guidelines it wouldn't have got so bad in the UK, but from what I saw at least part of the responsibility has to lie with members of the general public who have just ignored the rules, and therefore put others at risk.
