Ah, but you mustn't let a little thing like the facts get in the way of this board knocking the Tories.
Except it’s absolute bollocks because it was our fault for wrongly and arrogantly assuming we’d be granted third party status. ****ing flag shaggers.
Or, more accurately, the UK signed up to a treaty which explicitly stated there will be trade barriers between GB and Northern Ireland [article 5, Northern Ireland Protocol, Withdrawal Agreement if you're interested in facts]. Boris completely gave into the EU on one of May's red lines and hailed it as a victory and is now furiously trying to row back by undermining a treaty he signed up to. But, sure, carry on with the bluster and pretend that it's the other side completely unaware of the facts. Classic Brexiteer fantasy stuff.
So, is it not true that the EU made veiled threats to interfere with trade between NI and the UK? Genuine question.
Makes a mockery of all contracts/agreements really. Why sign the ****ing thing, rush it through parliment, let nobody have time to scrutinise it, realise you've ****ed up and then blame someone else for your incompetence. They seem more like the facts to be fair pal.
I don't understand how the EU expecting the UK to adhere to a treaty it signed up to under 12 months ago could be characterised as a "veiled threat" - there is nothing hidden, secret or veiled about a treaty, written in black and white with unambiguous meaning, which the UK voluntarily signed up to. There's also nothing threatening about something happening which the UK Government - again, voluntarily - signed up to itself in October. There was no "veiled threat" from the EU to interfere with trade between NI and the UK, simply a binding promise from both sides that trade between the NI and the UK would be interrupted to some degree as a way of ensuring the N/S border in Ireland is frictionless.
Regardless of leave/remain thoughts. We seem to be making a right royal **** up of what was described as 'the easiest deal in history'. We are how many years down the line now? I personally couldn't really give a **** about leaving or remaining anymore. It's all a load of bollox. Only time will tell whether it will be a good thing or a bad thing, whether I'm alive to witness either, that's another matter. To go through all this during the biggest crisis the this country and the world has ever seen is bloody ridiculous. Whether you support the Tories, Labour, Greens, Lib Dems etc, all can see that this government, who instigated all of this and since dealt with it all, have pulled a lot of peoples pants down and acted with pure incompetence. Its ****ing crazy.
Don’t worry Gina Miller is now on the scene. We need to walk away. The EU are nothing more than Unelected bullies. We walk.
I think it probably goes deeper than that, to be fair. I think it has perhaps accelerated, and certainly solidified, trends which have been taking place since the middle of the 2000s, with a move away from a left/right divide in politics towards a more internationalist/nationalist divide - linked to those who have 'won' and 'lost' from rapid globalisation. That's why the 'red wall' felt comfortable voting blue, and that trend didn't happen overnight, with many of those seats inching towards the Tories - who have always had a strong pro-UK message - since the '05 election. Brexit is - to my mind - is the climax of that long festering debate, hence both sides being fairly dug in. As an aside, it's also why May's "citizens of nowhere" comment pissed so many of her opponents off, and why Starmer has (wisely to my mind) been pushing a very 'patriotic' message e.g. his article in the Sun on St George's day. Anyway, enough, I have an important fantasy football draft to finalise.
Not about ‘showing’ anybody. They are not interested in us being an independent country. Sadly the useful idiots seem to support the EU more than their own country. Forget this latest move... we have Had 7 previous meetings where they have laughed us out. Farage has been spot on from the start. He said what would happen.
and contempt for everyone, the constant lying, u-turns, do as we say, oh not what we said then because erm... look over there nothing to see it’s all the EU’s fault etc and their support lap it up.
We’d all be sipping on Patron getting sucked off by an instagram model in a jacuzzi if it wasn’t for the EU’s INTRANSIGENCE.
