What is Lansdown doing he has gone for it this season.

Bristol City are going up and I’m not joking .

    Fantastic signings.

just hope that Deano can handle it.

    Really?
They’re ok, but that’s all in my book. Possibly some ‘older, wiser heads’ to balance the squad, but hardly league winners for me.
Of course I hope I’m wrong and you’re right.

That’s it we’re ****ed. Once the village idiot comes out with his predictions we know it’s all going the opposite way.

RR even put a video up of Chris Brunt saying this is who we’ve signed. It was dated 2008. <doh>
I’m pleased we’ve got Brunt but he is not going to be the player he was 12 years ago.

So Brunt three times promoted out of the championship-Mawson and Sess promoted out of the championship with Fulham.

    Are you sure.

This is exactly how I feel about him. There's a huge long thread (started back in 2011 and STILL attracting posts) about him on a WBA forum and they seem to respect him for 'past services' - a 'mixed' response with some saying he'll do well and others saying that he should have retired:

"Absolute joke of a club if this is where there going-bye bye Bristol City relegation battle on the cards."

You are genuinely the most fickle football supporter I have ever seen RR <laugh>

The one you complained about when we were rumoured for him?

But still does not explain why you put a video up on Facebook of a player from 2008. Henry was still banging them in, in 2008 maybe we should buy him.

Nothing wrong with being 35 - except when you're playing professional football regularly at this level. We've got Bamba who's at the same age now and is showing it. He was 32 when he came to us and up until his injury was a brilliant signing.

The fact is we're 3 years on now and at some point the performances drop off. A player may feel the same mentally about himself, but the difference in translating that physically between age 32 and 35 in pace and stamina is massive.

Always liked Brunt for his authority on the pitch, but putting in regular performances could be a step too far for him this season. Mawson could be the better acquisition if you can keep him fit and off the surgeon's table.

If there was one thing Bristol City needed in midfield this summer, it was experience, we've lost our 2 stalwarts by choice ( Brownhill and Smith) this vastly experienced 35-year-old has the ability to play in multiple positions across the pitch, from left-back to attacking midfield will accomodate this loss, his experience, leadership, maturity and spirit will lift our younger players when he is on the pitch or behind the scenes, he is a born leader and that is what Holden was looking for.

His contract is only for 12 months, he has a tremendous relationship with Keith Downing who was a major influence of bringing him to our club and that demonstrates the new thinking of bringing in new coaches.

That's fine then - you know your club far better than me.

I was just making a general age related comment. It will all unfold whatever we say.

I actually agree with your post and my comment just broadens out the advantages Brunt could bring us.

No problem. Hope you end up with what you need. Gareth Barry at Brom where Brunt has come from has only just retired this summer and he's 39.

Age needn't be a barrier, but it does catch up with a player. If you want someone to influence the rest of the side like Bamba did for us when we needed it at the time, then go for it.

My concern was that Brunt is just that bit older than Sol was back then, and Sol isn't now what he was then.

It was more a laugh at the village clown, posting a video of someone from 2008 as the player we are getting.
Back in 2008 I had dark hair, roll forward it has gone silver and slipping off my head. But thinking about it, I got married in 2008 so there may be another reason for the grey hair.
